Just a personal thing, but I think dealerships just take people for a ride compared to independent garages . Their hourly is usually very high and an independent garage can get you Genuine jaguar parts for far less than the dealerships .
An example; I recently damaged my wing mirror (someone left their bin in the road) , everything still works perfectly apart from the mirror not closing in when I lock the car .
For a new mirror the dealership quoted £700 (without fitting), the exact same mirror online £305, still didn't bother though.

Same thing happened to me when I got the XJ Supersport about six weeks ago , but as it was still under warranty the stealership fixed it , said it was the mini motherboard or something .
Kingspeed :
I'm also going to use an independent garage to get the Jag serviced, they are a lot cheaper than the franchise garages , and providing they use genuine Jaguar parts and follow the proper guidelines the warranty will not be affected.
We have a list of independent garages recommended by the members on one of the forums.

I am flabbergasted at the amount of attention the car has got since I bought it , in fairness the bride and her father looked fantastic having the doors opened at the church by Royal Marines and being helped from the car .
The girl in question had been let down on the wedding car, she saw the my car by chance as she was driving past the house and sent her husband to be to knock on my door and ask if I could do the honours .
They made a very nice donation to The Childrens' Hospice South West , so good luck to them I say.

Had two Astons in the past year, both a heap of junk. the Jag will knock spots off them. Have you seen the F type Coupe ? it is better than the Vanquish in every way, and half the price .
Really wish I had opted for an XK now instead of the Aston DB 9's , would have saved me a fortune and got me a better car.

It would make an excellent wedding car instead of taking payment i'm asking them to make a donation to the Children's Hospice South West .

This is true Trevor, the amount of positive comments i've had since the supersport have been unbelievable far more than when I had the Aston Martin . I shall post a pic of the car with the ribbons on it .

Would still be a lot easier if you could use the emergency key to open the boot though. But this is nitpicking . Had a young lady knock on the door yesterday asking if I could possibly drive her to church to get married , she thinks the XJ Superport is fantastic !

John, being an old bugger my insurance is pretty cheap . it average about 23mpg, 20mpg around town, and about 32mpg on a run, compared to the Aston I find it quite economical .
As I don't drink or smoke anymore, due to a heart attack I can use the money saved towards motoring .
The 5.0 litre XF sounded fab, I was offered a XFR-S , they wanted my mangled Aston plus another £13K, as I had spent a fortune at the same garage over the past year I declined, and they got me the XJ, which I really like,
-
It is fab John, the woman who mangled my Aston (while it was in for a service) did me a huge favour . The XJ was the Jag directors car, not only is it faster than the Aston, it has a 1200 watt Bowers and Wilkins 20 speaker sound system ( i'm en ex music researcher and a huge music buff) , but it has more flat sceen TV's than the local council estate . I'm really impressed with it, even though you do need planning permission to park it.

My last four cars have been BMW 335 M Sport convertible, BMW M3 convertible, Aston Martin DB9 Volante, and an Aston Martin DB9 Le Mans coupe,
I now have a Jag XJ Supersport, and will knock spots off all of them, the best car i've ever owned, by a long way, just sheer class !

I have found one ta (which i have posted somewhere else on this site) a chap who owns a garage that used to service all my cars is going to do it, using genuine Jaguar parts at a fraction of the cost of the franchise place, which won't invalidate my warranty.

Had the XJ Supersport for three weeks now, and what a fabulous car it is ! Have now got all the toys working (the headphones just needed batteries ) . Everything has worked out for the best, although i'm not that impressed by Franchise garages .
It is the best car I have ever owned !

Having felt the full force of rip off merchants, AKA Franchise dealers with my Aston (they are also Jaguar franchise) I am returning to the chap who always used to service my cars, and he has a very good repeutation in the area . He has promised to maintain my 2012 XJ Supersport with genuine Jaguar parts at a fraction of the cost of the franchise garage.
He is a decent chap, his name is Chris Bament
He owns

It will turn out for the best i'm sure.
I must admit I was a bit miffed at first over the Aston, and getting the Jag, looks wise it felt a bit like going out with Miss World and coming home with Suasan Boyle !
Getting used to the looks now, which i would describe as a cross between industrial and a touch of Nascar .
As I said i'm very new to Jags, but liking them more by the minute, far better engineered than the Aston, and faster also !
One quick question from the wife if you don't mind, she said can she use the wirless headphones in the front seat while watching a DVD or the telly, or can they only be used in the back ( It is a Bowers and Wilkins system ) ?

It will knock spots of my Aston Martin DB9 which it replaced !

Well thank you Trevor, it is a great name indeed, although I have changed my name by deed poll to Hendrix!.
Let me telll you how I came about the XJ Supersport , I can nearly even smile about it .
The Aston was in for a service and MOT last week at a posh Aston and Jag dealers in Exeter it is so posh they make me stand on the pavement outside while the wife deals with them inside.
They had lent me a new XF courtesy car which I was very impressed with .
A few hours after arriving home the garage phoned and said the car had passed it's MOT with flying colours (done elsewhere ) but the mechanics had noticed a serious fault in the transmission and they were waiting for someone from Aston to come down to the garage to assess it, and it would have to go back to the factory to be repaired (under warranty) .
As you can imagine , I was thrilled as I had only had the car a year !
It was parked on the forecourt waiting for the Aston mechanic to arrive from Gaydon, a lady drove into the garage in her Jag to get it serviced, somehow smashed into my Aston, and really mangled it (the Aston chap has since arrived and has estimated the damage at first glance to be £15K-£20K) .
Obvioulsy I didn't want the car any more and as they were low on stock they asked if I would consider a Jag . Being so impressed with the courtesy car I said "yes" , at the same time tugging at the heart strings along the "shattered dreams" theme.
They offered me a new XFR-S plus cash, or the Jag directors XJ Supersport plus cash, which has all the trimmings.
I plumped for the Supersport, and although i've only had it a day, I am thrilled with it,. It will take me a while to get used to the size (although it's only 16 inches longer than the Aston ), and I will probably need planning permission to park it down here in rural Devon.
To cut a long story short, I think this episode is a blessing , the lady is ok, which is the main thing , The Astons aren't all they're cracked up to be (i've had two in a year, both rubbish) . I am extremely impressed with the engineering of the Jag and i'm sure I will be very happy and be able to chuckle about the whole episode one day.
All the best to you all,
Trevor

Hello,
I'm Trevor from Devon . I this afternoon took posession of a 2012 XJ supercharged with all the trimmings ( ex jag directors car).
Having previously owned an Aston martin DB9 (what a disaster) I am overjoyed.
As i've only had the car a few hours i'm still working my way round it (how to use the telly and bluetooth headphones and the like).
So any hints or tips on anything would be appreciated.

Is this too cheap?

It does seem cheap, but you can pick up really good second hand Jags cheap , haven't got got a friendly mechanic you could pay a few bob to to give it the "once over" ? .
Or why not pay the AA to do a vehicle inspection for you, it is about £150 for non members, then you would know what you're getting.
