  1. Good luck Steve, unfortunately I'm not in your area to assist with the code reading. It's usually the tyre monkeys over tightening the wheel nuts instead of using the correct torque settings. I had a similar problem to you on my last motor Merc SL55 and had to drill the O/S front lock nut out. I since invested in a torque wrench and take along with me when having new tyres fitted.

  2. Welcome to the JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB Trevor. Always good to find exactly what you want having high expectations, find that strange converting from a Megane though, not exactly in the same class as a Jaguar X - Type. Living in Brittany do you speak the French Briton or the French Celtic Language similar to Cymraeg?

  3. Hi Adil and welcome to the JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. Being a XKR owner myself and having converted from a Mercedes SL55 AMG I honestly cannot say the running costs are any different. A set of brake pads from a main dealer will be pricey however there are many independent Jaguar specialists out there dependant on where you live who perform work at a reasonable cost, as for the parts then the likes of EBC Brakes, Euro Car Parts or GSF will supply pads, discs etc at a very competitive price. As for Oil and filter changes then I don't have any personal problems with using the likes of National tyres, Kwik Fit etc who perform such quite reasonable. My preference there would be National tyres who use better quality oils, in fact on my last Oil change they replenished with Castrol Magnatec which would have been my preference if I were to purchase they Oil myself.

  4. Obviously the first place to look would be the transmission fluid Rod which have obviously been making an attempt to check. Not having an X type I am unable to direct you the dip stick however it's obviously there somewhere. If fluids are found to be fine then I'm afraid to say it's a Jaguar Independent Specialist or a Automatic Transmission Speacilist. I wouldn't take that problem to a Stealership it would be an arm and leg job.

    You could keep driving forward and get her indoors to push you back into car parkin spaces :-) sorry for the pun

  5. Hi Adrian welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. I'm an XKR owner former SL55 AMG TR6 Triumph Stag and a host of various nice motors including a Lotus Cortina in my younger days when I earned money playing professional football. Hope you enjoy the club and car buddy

  6. Hi Pop and welcome to the JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. I cannot verbally speak about the model you have due to the fact I am an XKR owner transferring from a SL55 AMG. The first thing I done was to buy aftermarket MP3 however, as for 17" and 18" wheels I do not believe there will be much difference. I swapped my 20" to 18" simply for tyre wear and the ride improved dramatically due to the higher profile of the tyres however, I cannot state that the handling differed, I honestly don't know.

  7. Strange one that Paul and I've no answer other than needs to be plugged in to a fault reader in the hope that it displays a fault code for you. You can download a OBDII for free which is a superb diagnostic software and you can purchase a 16 pin to USB lead from Amazon for as little as £2.99. Good Luck Paul, let us know how you get on and if you find the problem post it in case anyone else gets the same problem

  8. Hi Greg and welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. If its of any help I have a Mercedes 2.7 Turbo Diesel and I quite easily get 50+ miles to the gallon. My XKR 4.2ltr Petrol does not return anything near to that however, I bought each car for very different reasons, one for work the other as a toy, I'll let you work out which way round for yourself

  9. I have a blue XKR and know the colour code however, around the wing mirrors and bulkhead at the rear of the bonnet there is a shiny grey colour for which I have no idea what the colour is. Is there anyone on here that may point me in the direction of obtaining this code without a trip to the stealership?

  10. Brian, there are only two things that can cause a fus to blue being;

    1. A direct short in circuit (Live to Earth[ground])

    2. An overload in current.

    Due to the fact that the fuse is blown immediately on replacement I would be 99.9% sure it would be a direct short. I would agree with Christopher's advice due to the fact its common practice to follow this route and it is also common for wiring going to seat movement devices to have become entangled in runners and the like which would be earthed therefore, live wire to runner earth = direct short

  11. Hi Andy and welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. I can only suggest you take a test drive in the vehicle of your choice whether it be a Mk2 or an XK8/XKR. From there you can make a decision on your preference and start the hunt for the vehicle of your choice. Members of the club would oblige in taking a ganders of cars that are a little far from you to avoid extra mileage. When you have seen an advertisement that interests you place a post on here to establish in anyone lives in the area of ? and would the take a look at etc etc taking photographs.

    Good luck
