    REMAP

I came across them when I started modding my MGF, they're relaxed about anything other than non standard forced induction and nitrous, so plenty of scope there then!

    REMAP

Re modded cars, I have all mine with A Plan in Bletchley who are very relaxed over any mods and provide an excellent service...
  3. Mine is prefacelift, so the unit goes at the top, not under, but I've found some images of aftermarket units. I strongly dislike those with too much going on at the best of times, flashing lights and such, which is arguably not worthy of the understated Jag interior. I also don't like doing jobs twice so would want to future proof with a DAB I think, so I may keep looking unless there was a sensibly priced, understated DAB version out there. A touchscreen one might fit the bill but it would be more expensive ;)
  4. I'm tempted to agree with Andy re the Halfords install, but I tend to do all my own work anyway. I'd be very interested in a picture of what one looks like in situ, and I've asked the eBayer if they can confirm fitment and if they have a pic of an installed one. Although I've just looked online and there are a few images of aftermarket units...
  5. Looks great, well done :)
  6. I saw a similar unit on Amazon which specifies it's for the S-Type and wondered if this was an alternate solution to adding the connectivity wiring for USB and iPhone etc. I have a tape deck in mine, which is a bit of a laugh, so this could be a good solution as I also don't have a the cartridge for the boot changer. I'm interested in pursuing this option if anyone has a definitive answer ;)
  7. Yup, XE only has 20 posts, but even they get a picture ;)
  8. Hi all, Why is it that our S-Type club is the only one that doesn't get a picture on the title page, despite having more posts than all the other models combined? Just a thought ;)
  9. Sounds interesting, I'll PM you Paul ;)
  10. Awesome, similar experience with mine, 14 years and 135K, my MOT guys felt a had a 'good un', when I told him what I paid for her, he couldn't believe it! Must be good quality and well put together cars :)
  11. Well done Andy, as you say, once you know how the clip works, you can do it in situ, and your picture may help someone doing it for the 1st time. It's really just a matter of unclipping the non hinged end which appears to be a standard fitment on most (of my) cars...
  12. Hi Steve, Thanks for the info, so same ride height but different spring rates on the Sport then? I thought as much but hadn't had this confirmed. Does anyone else know other differences with the Sport, different shockers or anything else? Cheers, Russ
  13. Thanks Derek, I'll consider length of extensions before making a decision, so thanks for the heads up, hadn't thought of that ;)
  14. On my one I think the switch on the door is for folding only and not for adjustment. I don't have access to the car right now but I'm pretty sure this is the case ;)
  15. My normal profile jack goes under fine Simon, and even the sport is not that low compared to some. Also, Derek, you mention buying ramp extensions which were rubbish. Before this morning I didn't realise there were such things, but now I do, I want some! What was the issue you had, or would you recommend avoiding the extensions altogether and going for trailer ramps? Cheers :)
  16. My ramps won't fit under the front of my Sport, not sure if this fits lower than standard, but they happily go under the back, so you would work for doing the exhaust swap Steve. They have ramps and extensions on eBay if you don't have any, and I'm looking at getting some extensions for my ramps as I'll need them for the S-Type and my MGF...
  17. Yup, agree that it looks like you got a great deal on a awesome car, with your cheaper gas / petrol prices in the US it makes even more sence to have an STR. I only had 1 really worn out fob when we got ours. I bought another from eBay for c£15 and paid a local Jag independent £20 to programme it. I then sent the old one off to be refurbished, which cost c£20. I have the MK1 separate key and fob and the key with transponder cost c£60 from a local locksmith. All of this was less than 1/2 the price of what the independent advised and probably a 1/4 of going direct to Jag. So I now have 2 fully working keys for c£100. IMHO you can hardly blame the STR for key problems, you could have the same issues on a Nissan Micra!
  18. Interested to know there was a premium sound upgrade, was this for facelift and later versions or on all models?
  19. I'm also relatively pleased with mine, but I used to dabble in ICE and I know it could be better. Being that the B&W system in the XF had 17 speakers and c450W, and was voted the best ICE system in the world (at the time), I suspect there is improvement that could be made to the standard S-Type audio. I'd recommend an upgrade of the standard drivers as a good start point, going for efficiency over ridiculous peak power figures, it may be that your speakers are damaged Simon. If still not good enough after this then there's plenty of room in the boot for a custom / aftermarket bass box ;)

  21. Hey Paul, Being that we both know Osram Nightbreakers provide a reasonable upgrade over standard bulbs, and that Xenon is available for our S-Types, I think we can negate cheapo HID kit's as an option if they've already proved problematic. So I'm sure you're right ;) Cheers, Russ
  22. Sounds like good advise that, my knowledge of the HID's hadn't gone much further than seeing them listed and considering them for my MGF, which also has poor lighting. Other than working out that one doesn't need the higher spectrum blue light so beloved by the boy racer fraternity with HID's (c6K give a white light similar to standard). I'll be giving the bulb based HID kits a wide berth after the concerns that Paul has highlighted ;)
  23. Hi Tim, I'm getting deja vu here as Ken asked about this on Sunday and I've just responded to Simon on lights as well ;) Have a look at Ken's thread and see if this helps at all. Cheers, Russ
  24. Hi Simon, Mine were also shocking, which was largely down to them pointing about 6' in front of the car and also having clouded polycarbonate lenses. I did the lenses with the 3M kit, changed to Osram Nightbreakers and adjusted the elevation to where they should be and now they're great, some of the best I've had on any car. On my 2001 you can adjust with a big 8mm allen key, but I understand later models have an auto adjust that drops and needs more difficult remedial action. You can get HID kits based on replacement bulbs which may be worth a look before considering the expense of replacing the entire units, but standard units with improved bulbs, set up properly, work quite well ;) Hope this helps, Russ
  25. I put Osram Nightbreaker bulbs in my 2001 without removing the bumper. You just unscrew the plastic covers at the back of the lights to access the bulbs. These and crystal clear lenses thanks to the 3M kit work well ;)
