  1. No worries Steve, I suspected you would after going to the trouble of fitting them If you (or anyone else!) happens to notice a 2nd hand set of Adamesh or other sports exhaust for the S, please do let me know (Message is probably best), they would finish the Sport off nicely
  2. I had a similar issue when I 1st got mine, but it seems to have fixed itself since I refurbed one key fob and bought a 2nd one from eBay that a local independent programmed. Before I had the working fobs that you can unlock the doors with from the inside, I came close to being stuck in there! When I was looking for advice I learnt it was possible to take off the door cards and lube various parts of the locking mechanism, but I haven't got around to doing this yet. Good luck
  3. Ha ha, I'm with Andy, the camo one has a certain something! Looks a bit like an RAF staff car and perfect for the Gumball Rally type scenario it was used for. It should never have happened to a Jag but it did. Actually pretty low mileage!
  4. Well done Sir! Changing out a dashboard for the sake of your audio is quite a commitment! I'm intending to embark on a similar route at some point in the future, but I'm planning on using a double din DAB head unit with DAB. Sourcing the premium sound parcel shelf with amp and then upgrading all the speakers to good quality aftermarket ones, and possibly upgrading the speaker cable if it's not up to scratch, but I probably won't bother with the centre amp and mids. Thanks for trailblazing these retro fits, if OK I may pick your brains about it closer to the time
  5. Just had a quick look on eBay and saw a genuine one at £385, pattern at £200 and 2nd hand at £38.50. You'd need to check compatibility etc...
  6. The older Sports look a lot more contemporary, with less chrome, but your vintage is post facelift which I have less experience with. I understand suspension settings are different, but mine is comfy and sure footed, not overly harsh. The interior wood I have was only specified in the Sport and my Sport has full leather. Others will know more...
  7. Well, I'm not super bothered about it, but it Steve doesn't want them, it'll be a shame to waste them. We were very gentlemanly about it when you originally sold them and I gave Steve 1st dibs as he showed the initial interest, rather than asking to close the deal myself. Must be the Jag ownership having a civilising effect on us
  8. Hi Simon, after all this time, you can call me Russ Yes, they are the same as yours, and very nice too, really well made, it was on the thread about them that you arranged to sell Steve your Adamesh boxes last year. You may recall I found a Jag and Aston outlet on eBay who was clearing old stock down. I would only sell them to Steve if he would sell me the Adamesh boxes, if I don't get the Adamesh boxes, I'll still need them
  9. You can just replace the rubbers, cheaper and easier if the metal parts are still in good order
  10. I have the oval original Jag tail pipe finishers that retailed at £171.40, you might remember I posted about them, I'd include them in any deal if you were to push the Adamesh boxes my way ;)
  11. Having taken out a nice 2003 2.5 Sport before buying our 3.0, my opinion is the the extra 40bhp is really noticeable, almost the same difference between the 3.0 and the 4.0 but without the extra weight of the V8. Not that the 2.5 is slow, but the 3.0 is actually quite fast! I held out for a 3.0 manual Sport, and I'm glad I did
  12. Hi all, While having my tyres changed yesterday I noticed that my NS rear droplink was shot to pieces and the OS, not much better. I need to swap out discs and pads so I'm going to add the rear drop links to the list. I thought while I was doing it I could check condition of other components and see if there is anything else that needs doing. Unless there is strong advice out there to change other bushes, joints and links as a matter of course while I'm doing the droplinks? As I may have mentioned, my S was a little unloved before I took her on so no idea when these would've been last done, but she did pass last MOT with them, I've now done c130K. I was going to speak to Berkshire Jag Components who have been helpful in the past, and have a look on eBay for the supply of them. I can't seem to see a polybush options for them so will go with standard rubber I think. Thanks in advance, Russ
  13. Hi all, I went for the Winrun R330's yesterday and I must say that my initial feedback is very positive. Before committing I spoke to the supplier a couple of times, and I was pleasantly surprised that on arrival it was a decent modern outfit with smart new kit and helpful staff. Final sign off involved a good look at the tyres before fitting and they seemed great, close to a Pzero sidewall and tread pattern but c1/3 the price! All in including; valve, balance, rim sealer and fitting I paid £216 for the complete set of 4! Which I am stunned by for a tyre of this size and performance, who said running a Jag was expensive! On the road the car seems transformed, I've only done 30 miles or so, and I take it (relatively) easy for the 1st 1K or so with new tyres in any case, but they seem composed, predictable and grippy, which is as much as I can really ask for . I'll inform if anything comes up to change my opinion, but at present it's a big thumbs up to the Winrun R330 and to EcoTyres in Southampton who supplied and fitted them . Cheers, Russ
  14. Hi Steve, Sounds like a bit of a disaster mate! Well, I'm a man of my word and will take them off your hands Let me know if you decide to swap them back Cheers, Russ
  15. Bad luck Simon, that sucks! The pads look much older than those few weeks, must've had a hard life! I'd be tempted to change the discs as well, particularly now they've been scraped up. It looks like the pads have had trouble conforming to the irregular surface, but this is no excuse for them failing within this short time I'd say...
  16. May I ask what sort of mileage the car had done Simon and if you think this is the 1st time the hubs and arms were replaced? I guess how far one gets from these will vary with road type and driving style? Mine brakes pretty well considering there is little left on the pads and discs, but I'll check the condition of arms and bushes in case it would be prudent to do these at the same time etc...
  17. Jealous Steve, interested to know if they are boomy inside the car, or if this just happens with cheaper hatchbacks and not Jags! Remember I have 1st refusal if you decide you don't like them
  18. This is a bit of a concern as I'm doing discs and pads shortly, in my experience a complete change out sorts this indefinitely so interested to hear if there are brands and vendors to avoid and what the eventual solution / root cause is. Hope you get it sorted Ian
  19. Hi all, I'm reviving this original thread as I'm about to take the plunge and wanted to check something before I made a final decision. I'd more or less decided on the Nexen's, either an N8000 or N Fera SU4, when on checking the reviews I came across these Winrun R330's being given top reviews, a solid C rating on wet grip and economy and rated to 168mph, which should be just about adequate . My surprise was finding these locally at c£50 per corner including fitting! Too good to be true? I hope not as I need them quite desperately and this is a very good price I can go for right away. I've called the stockist and they sound sensible and can book me in next week, so unless anyone has a horror story or strongly disagrees, I may give them a try . All the best, Russ
  20. We almost always say Jag, the Discoverys are Disco's and the MGF is called Poko, but the Jag is the Jag. I've been trying to think of a suitable name, but nothing has really stuck...
  21. Peter is not wrong, the engine is (very) largely Ford, although the Jag got VVT which I don't think the Ford's did. Also Mazda, Porche and Cosworth had a hand in it's development, and IMHO, it's one of the best engines I've come across, a real cracker. I think your mate is confusing the X and S Types, the X was on a Mondeo chassis and uses a lot of Mondeo parts with a transverse engine, the S uses the Jag / Ford DEW platform (Lincoln, Thunderbird etc), used on the XF until last year, and an inline engine, so definitely not a Mondeo. I can help re the gearbox, as I have a manual
  22. Thanks Ian, this is one of the reasons I haven't just gone straight into it. If I'm going into the doors I want spare trim clips and everything prepared, experience suggests that a few will always break and this is one car where rattles and sloppy trim will not be acceptable! Couple of questions, is it worth a spray Waxoly or similar inside the doors or are our S's already well catered for in this department? Plus is there a plastic sheet / cover inside the card and can these be replaced, or can they be kept intact during the process so not require replacement. Cheers
  23. Nice! I was discussing this with Paul and definitely want to do it at some point
  24. Ebay will sell you the hard copy owners handbook, in the original leather wallet if you need this...
