Hi, I've bought a 2013 Jag XF Sportbrake, but it needs a few repairs to make it perfect. I need to replace the rear wiper motor, and I need to figure out why the rear parking sensors refuse to work. Any advice, or part numbers for the motor? I was hoping, given the provenance of the car, that a more common estate car rear wiper motor might do the trick.

Need a replacement hose, but which one is it???
lordlucan replied to Wingwalker's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
Hi David, I’ve had hoses made for me for other models by Derby Performance Hoses. They were surprisingly well priced and they even offered custom colours etc. The last order was a set of silicone hoses for SWB 2006 Mitsubishi Shogun, not exactly a common request, yet they had the tools at hand and were willing to make or adapt tools if they hadn’t. They actually supplied me quicker than the off the peg shops and at much the same price but in the colour of my choice ( I wanted black and all those offered elsewhere were neon so not exactly subtle ) Worth a try. Actually, I just checked. It’s the engine breather pipe and they sell one for the 2.5L V6 for £15 so yours should be similar 🙂 -

2009 3lt XF Drivers door window fully opened but wont close!
LESABBS replied to LESABBS's topic in Jaguar Technical
Many thanks for your advice. Will follow it and report results. At 80 I am reluctant to travel to our nearest Jaguar repair garage, so as a retired C.Eng. I will have another go as I can't leave the car in any public place. Have temporarily covered the window with a plastic sheet but can only use lock without alarm -
Excellent, weather is looking fine. There will be Jaguar reserved parking at the Raemoir Garden Centre on Sunday morning. It will be on the left side of the car park as you come through the gate, turn left, left and left to park with the others. We will be in the café part if no owners milling around. N6 JMX

Hi Robert, it is always possible to increase the overall height of the seat base, but it will depend how mechanical you are or whether you have access to a fabrication capability since the solution is to increase the tilt mechanism by employing a wedge or suitable bracket between the rear of the seat and the tilt mechanism. I don't have access to the XJ to check, but there are multiple adjustments available on most premium electric seat mechanisms. It is possible to raise the entire seat base itself to be higher and then it is also the case that you can tilt upwards from the rear, making the total increase quite dramatic. Are you sure you have explored all of the current adjustments? N6 JMX

The default position for the DCCV is open so if you lose the supply to it, the valve will be open. Everything you're describing says you still have air in the system. If you can get the back end on some ramps and then top the cooling system up at the expansion tank, refit the cap, run it up to temperature and then switch off, leave it overnight, that should help shift the air. Check the level the next day before running it and top up if needed. It can take several attempts at this to clear blocked air from the system.

I ran a quick check for fault codes today and one that shows up as a permanent error is "Windshield Misting sensor" Does anyone know what this is ? every works and I cant seem to find it in any parts search that i do online other than people suggest headlight or wiper sensors but both these functions are working fine. Thanks Ian

Performance restricted and DSc not available
Adrian Bevan replied to Adrian Bevan's topic in XK / XKR (X150) 2006 - 2014
Brilliant! Thanks for that, she’s booked in for a battery swap on Weds. Hopefully that will mean I’ll be able to just enjoy the drive against and rack up the smiles per miles!! -
Hi Robert, there are 2 obvious answers to try. 1. Have you looked in the handbook wallet, typically there should be a security card with the various numbers and identifiers included. It is typically credit card sized. 2. Go back to the original selling dealership, or at least the dealer you purchased the car from. Failing those 2 options, you would need to visit a Jaguar dealer (if you can now find one) and have them unlock the security file for the TV. N6 JMX

Yes I did adjust to every possible position and check the electrics were working but I couldn’t get my legs underneath the wheel. I may even take a punt on it and get the owner to test drive it with me-and get him to deliver it to my mechanic to do the work to adjust the seat, not something I’m capable of doing.

Anyone had a Mr12volt Android Auto /Carplay module fitted?
Garry1127 replied to Garry1127's topic in Jaguar Technical
Hello all, I thought I would post a quick update on the Mr12Volt installation in my XK. I had it carried out very swiftly and carefully by Elite and Performance Jags in Derby (£575 including installation) they also managed to thread the USB cable through into the armrest box so I could run music or load firmware updates from there, which is excellent (I thought I would lose USB connectivity) you can access the USB through the old Jag screen. For a while I had an amusing moment where in Android Auto I was playing one piece of music and then when I switched to the old Jag screen I had a different piece of music playing! That caused some confusion until I realised the Android Auto was playing music from my phone, the old Jag system from the USB stick! Problem solved by taking the USB stick out as I found I didn't need it as the car can access the music libraries stored on my phone perfectly. A month on all I can say is that this is a superb update for my XK, Android Auto (there is also Apple carplay) it starts immediately I switch the car on and I have full access to Waze and Google maps (and music apps etc) through the standard screen (no more phones or add on screens blocking the controls or wobbling and falling off their cradles). If you press the home button you can switch to the old Jaguar screen and back again. Quirks? sometimes I have to restart the Bluetooth on my phone to get Android Auto to connect and getting out of the car my phone remains locked to Bluetooth (no sound through earpiece or phone speaker until I select it) but as soon as I walk away from the car the phone corrects itself (I think the cars Bluetooth remains active for a few minutes after stopping which is useful if you just stop for a brief time such as to refuel as Waze etc. remains active and remembers its settings for a while). Phone calls can be answered through Android Auto, Steering Wheel controls all work, sound system working perfectly (and you have more options for adjusting the sound too) reversing camera working, heated and cooled seats work, heated windscreen working and the jags nav screen has a saturation option to beef up colours and I'm sure the display is slightly sharper now. The only issue I am really battling with is occasional echo of callers voices (they hear and echo of their own voices) I think this is an Android Auto issue but I'm still working on this. I have also fitted a glass anti reflection screen protector (as you would on a phone) and that has really improved legibility of the screen in bright conditions, its not perfect, by I can now see the screen in daylight most of the time whereas before with my cars light beige seats the screen was basically unusable in daylight (see below photo taken in strong sunshine - much clearer). All in all a superb upgrade to the XK. -

New Guy (XFR S/C 2013) from across the water

Done. Thanks, I didn't look for that until you posted. -
I too used KG Auto Electronics with the gear knob won't turn problem in my Jaguar XF 2009. They charged me £110 including postage to fix it, which was great value. There is another stream on this site that suggests a cracked/dry joint on the circuit board is the problem. 2 weeks on all is working well. Very pleased.
