Devastated! let everyone know. I left a free air freshener card on my lovely shiny cover of my centre console. its permanently etched its shape into the pristine surface. gutted. didn't expect that. Where can I get a spare covert for a 2018 XF sportbrake. dread to think what fitting it will cost. thanks for any ideas. Barry.

I have a xf 2.2 Diesel 2013, it has just developed a fault occasionally when pulling away it appears no gear has been selected and just revs the engine and the D flashes. I cant even select a gear on the paddles, I had to put into park then select drive and away we went. any ideas of the issues or experienced the same ?

I don't think they ever light up. TBF it is a pretty standard gearbox set up in the manual so I can't say I have ever seen it as an issue.

Probably either a faulty sensor or worn out module which is located in the boot near the spare wheel. You should be able to hear the sensors clicking if you put your ear close to them when in reverse, a faulty one will be silent . Both of the above items are available on ebay but make sure you get the module for cars with front and rear sensors. Also if there is a fault the indicator light will often flash on and off and sometimes beeps to indicate they are not working.

Hi Alan, that does sound a little bit salty, but there could be a number of reasons for the higher cost. Did you get an estimate breakdown? I suspect that there is little appetite amongst the dealer network to continue support for Jaguar as Jaguar Cars Ltd have not been very supportive of the dealerships, walking away from them in many cases. There may be also age related items that are not a normal part of the annual service such as auxiliary belts, etc. You are probably fortunate that you have a number of dealerships in your locale, but as the warranty period is well past, you also have the option of finding a good local independent to undertake your work and build a relationship for the future. I actually still have my own 2010 XKR under Jaguar Extended Warranty and spoke to them recently about the situation with the dealerships. They advised that as long as the work, such as servicing, is carried out to the correct procedure and interval, there would be no problem with the warranty conditions. They also said that an independent could undertake warranted repairs, provided they first got the go ahead from the warranty provider - same as a dealership would. Keep the Forum informed as to how you progress as this is a topic of real interest at the moment. N6 JMX

Reluctantly selling this beauty as we have no space for it. The body work is beautiful, the wheels are in great condition. It’s runs well, and looks good under the bonnet. Interior is also good for its age. It’s only done 82,000 miles. It’s original with good history and a years MOT.

Hi. Apologies, I should have probably explained. I've recently had my engine rebuilt which included a new block being installed. I've trying to understand if I need to notify DVLA and get V5 changed. The company that did the rebuild work for me don't seem to engage with me now I've paid them and I'm struggling to get inormation from them.

Hello everyone I've owned S-Type Jaguar since 2002. For the last 10 years I've had an 2004 S-Type. This morning while pulling out of my driveway they had repaved it and I skidded in gravel. Loss of traction. It didn't seem like a big deal however now it says restricted performance and as you know it's like Limp Mode. My regular mechanic doesn't work on this particular car and it's hard to find someone to work on an S-Type older than a 2006 here in St Louis Missouri United states. Although my car only has 125,000 miles on it. It's now acting different because of the restrictions. My mechanic suggested I disconnect the battery for a few hours. But it didn't work. This is my baby and I am on a fixed income as a disabled senior. Any ideas? [email protected]

Car won't start (2014, 130k miles) it was throwing up some EGR related error codes (P245a). It's had a new EGR valve fitted, but no joy. Took it to a specialist who didn't do much investigation, said there was no fuel getting to the injectors and will need a new high pressure fuel pump. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Or have any clue what might be the issue. Cheers

Hello There, I am a new and proud owner of a 2002 S-TYPE R . To maintain it I purchased an IDS SDD kit from tools4car. It is running from windows XP laptop. I can read almost all of the ECUs except the ECM and the rear sensors ECU. To be able to solve the ECM reading I have to go the configuration menu then select configure existing module then select Engine management then when asked for file K16_s42pm.bin I cancel the process (I didn't try to downlod this file). Only after all that the communication with ECM is back. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on ?

Hi Wendda, I am afraid the choices within the Jaguar range are somewhat limited. You may care to look at the X-type Estate, which is a brilliant and oft times overlooked car. Still plenty around, but finding a good one might be the challenge. An alternative, with a bigger budget, is the XF Sportbrake. These are real Jaguars and have absolutely acres of space inside. None of these will have hybrid of course, but you will find petrol versions. N6 JMX

Hi, I am Newbie to Jaguar Forum. I have 2009 X Type 2.2 Diesel SE DPF, 93 k miles. Have had this car for nearly 2 years and the Cigarette lighter/auxiliary socket does not work. The fuse was blown and when replaced, the power socket worked for a few seconds, then fuse blew & flattened the battery completely in seconds. Charged Battery and Socket still not working. Looks like the fuse is powered live constantly. Think should be powered with the ignition circuit. any ideas how to fix this problem ?

I had a similar problem with my S Type and the mechanic found a perished vacuum tube (black rubber 10mm approx) going to the engine block. On replacement, the problem went away.

Hi Kadir, do you know the age of the battery in your car? If it were still the original, then a suggestion to fit a new battery - and tell the car via the OBD port that a new battery has been installed - would be number 1 on my list. Modern cars, especially Jaguars, are extremely sensitive to battery voltage spikes and the battery's ability to start the car is no longer the prime indicator that the battery is still fit for purpose. After the battery reaches 5 years old, it needs to be considered for replacement - even if your local garage does a test and says it's fine! Receiving multiple, apparently random, error messages is a first sign that all is not well with the vehicle's battery. There are others - such as Stop / Start being inoperative for lengthy periods. Consider changing the battery for a correct rated replacement if you are unsure of the battery's age. N6 JMX -
Jim, thanks for the ‘heads up’.
