  2. My x type 2.5 AWD auto has braking issues. When car is cold brakes barely stop the car. When I pump go and stop numerous times the brakes come back to life and are ok the rest of the day. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

  4. Hi Paul Given those tyres are likely to be north of £600 per corner (when you can get them!), unless you are desperate to keep the original wheels I would be looking to replace with a set of 15" or 16" alloys which will probably cost less a lot less that the R390s. https://iconicalloys.co.uk/ https://www.imagewheels.co.uk/ Good luck John
  5. Almost certainly the fob buttons are worn. They can be replaced by an eBay kit and swapped with some soldering. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172182298119
  6. Does the removal of Gerry McGovern, the architect of the woke advert and rebranding, have any deeper meaning in the future of JLR? He is the JLR Executive that stood on the podium (almost 1 year ago) at the unveiling of the Type 00 and stated that Jaguar was not interested in its heritage customers! This did create a bit of outrage at the time, but was shushed over by others in support of the woke approach. Coincidental that the new CEO - from the Tata parent group, replacing Mardell, has only just taken full control of the company when McGovern departure is announced? N6 JMX

  8. Wardy, I found it was the relay in the engine fuse box that wasn't properly pushed in. It fired up straight away after I did this! Tim
  9. Thanks
  10. I'm assuming when you say "bearing" you actually mean the plastic bushes in the linkage? If so, try this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/146139281240 I bought a similar kit for my Honda CR-V some 2-3 years ago and it's working as well now as it did when i fitted it after a similar game to yours of replacing the entire linkage and motor assembly only to find it came from a Japanese (instead of Swindon like mine) built CR-V so had some wiring problems. Glad you mentioned this as mine is starting to wear on my '99 S Type so i had to search for the part you need and the part i need! With absolutely no sarcasm intended, thanks for having this problem! It's what the forum is all about - one person has a problem without an immediate solution but someone, somewhere has and has the easy solution.

  12. Many thanks for the suggestion but doing this is beyond my own skill level! I will let a Jaguar mechanic have a go. Dennis G
  13. Hi Colin, you indicate your problem is with the X-150 model, but your profile descripting infers you have the X-100 model from 2001, need to clarify which model you have the issue with. Before you changed the battery, did you have any need to jump start the car? If yes, then you may have fried the video screen that is the display in the X-150 model. N6 JMX
  14. Sounds like time to check the alternator. N6 JMX
  15. Thanks for your help, Jim!
  16. Hi, I am shortly having to change Alternator on 2.2 X type Diesel 2005. Looks as if AC pump etc will have to be removed to get at alternator top bolts. My AC does not work ( pulley clutch broke when I bought it) but that had been no bother and I have no need for AC. Anyobe taken it off completely ? Then obviously needs a shorter axillary belt - anyone done this and if so what belt did theu find to fit ?
  17. Hi Thanks for your response. I have had the same issue with either of my keys and I have replaced the batteries in both. I had a new drivers door latch fitted as well as tgd new boot latch. One garage told me it was the gear selector unit, so that was replaced and the problem still exists. It is with an auto electrician at the moment but it starts every time he tries, so no fault appears on the diagnostic……. Soul destroying !
  18. Great thank you
  19. Sealed up a leaking rhs tail light. Decided to do the lhs while I was there. Very easy to take out and put back. Will go an aftermarket upgrade for the rear view mirror fix. Cheers.
  20. Thank you
  21. Look at the SNG Barrett website for a good alternator at sensible prices. N6 JMX

  23. You're welcome, good luck with whatever you go for.
  24. Finally solved map upgrade issues. Jaguar where excellent 🏆Lloyds jaguar Houghton le spring did themselves proud with a little backwards and forward. Dropped of car 8 courtesy car, washed, hoovered returned by 4 . TCU &IMC update. Now my car is talking and I can update maps and live coverage. Cost was bearable, experience sometimes frustrating but a positive outcome
  25. Dark blue, oatmeal interior. 67,ooo miles. Very nice condition. I have owned for two and a half years, doing approx 6k miles a year. It is a very good car for £8,000.
  26. John, Thanks for your response and advice. I shall give it a try! Mike
  27. Very confused ? How did you manage to buy a new I-Pace in June 2025, as dealers, we had to register every new Jaguar we had by the end of October 2024. Every new Jaguar includes 3 years roadside assist anyway (which is administered by the AA) as part of the manufacturers warranty package.
  28. Hi thanks for that it has given me a guide line
  29. Hi Michael Seems you have no fuel available at first. Sounds like a problem I had with an old Peugeot 208 where there was a loose connection in the fuel line to the pump allowing air in and thus letting the fuel slip back down the line. This needed prolonged turnover or manual pumping of the fuel pump (it had a primer on top!) before it would start. Obviously the longer it sits between "sessions" the more time the fuel has to creep back down the fuel line if that is your problem I would check the fuel lines for leaks / loose connections and look / smell for fuel leaks and possible areas where air could be getting in the line. Good luck John
  30. Hello Justin, The SDD/Mongoose that I have I presume is a Chinese clone. The suppliers said that it must not be connected to the internet or it will not work. Therefore when I try to use it, it has the Red notice in the top right corner saying servrt fault. Is this normal?
