  5. Hi Leslie, that sounds like an unfortunate experience. Yes, it is possible to remove the door card - what you refer to as the inner door panel - but you will require the correct trim tools to give you the best chance of removing the card without damaging the fixings, which are generally quite brittle, so having replacements available before you start would be a good idea. Once you have removed the door card, which generally also involves "hidden screws", you should be faced with a clear plastic sheet, or membrane, which prevents moisture seeping into the cabin. You will need to cut carefully into this membrane in such a manner that you can replace it and secure it on completion of the work. The link below shows the mechanism you will find inside the door carcase and as you will see, there are several pieces that can "go wrong". If you are certain you can hear the motor operating when you make the switch in both directions, then it could be that the motor is "stalling out", which is what it is designed to do at the top and bottom extremities of its travel cycle. If that is the case, then there may be an obstruction to the glass path being caused by something within the mechanism having become detached - which could be obvious. Note if the link doesn't work correctly, you can search for "Jaguar Classic Parts" and simply follow the instructions to reach the information for the XF. Xf 2009 - 2015 (x250) / Door Glass And Channel-front | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Part Until you get into the door carcase, it is not possible to say what else you may find. If you are not comfortable accessing the inside of the door on your own, then a friendly body shop may be a good call to talk to. N6 JMX
  6. Hi Robert, it is always possible to increase the overall height of the seat base, but it will depend how mechanical you are or whether you have access to a fabrication capability since the solution is to increase the tilt mechanism by employing a wedge or suitable bracket between the rear of the seat and the tilt mechanism. I don't have access to the XJ to check, but there are multiple adjustments available on most premium electric seat mechanisms. It is possible to raise the entire seat base itself to be higher and then it is also the case that you can tilt upwards from the rear, making the total increase quite dramatic. Are you sure you have explored all of the current adjustments? N6 JMX
  7. The default position for the DCCV is open so if you lose the supply to it, the valve will be open. Everything you're describing says you still have air in the system. If you can get the back end on some ramps and then top the cooling system up at the expansion tank, refit the cap, run it up to temperature and then switch off, leave it overnight, that should help shift the air. Check the level the next day before running it and top up if needed. It can take several attempts at this to clear blocked air from the system.

  9. I ran a quick check for fault codes today and one that shows up as a permanent error is "Windshield Misting sensor" Does anyone know what this is ? every works and I cant seem to find it in any parts search that i do online other than people suggest headlight or wiper sensors but both these functions are working fine. Thanks Ian
  10. Brilliant! Thanks for that, she’s booked in for a battery swap on Weds. Hopefully that will mean I’ll be able to just enjoy the drive against and rack up the smiles per miles!!
  11. Hi Robert, there are 2 obvious answers to try. 1. Have you looked in the handbook wallet, typically there should be a security card with the various numbers and identifiers included. It is typically credit card sized. 2. Go back to the original selling dealership, or at least the dealer you purchased the car from. Failing those 2 options, you would need to visit a Jaguar dealer (if you can now find one) and have them unlock the security file for the TV. N6 JMX
  12. Yes I did adjust to every possible position and check the electrics were working but I couldn’t get my legs underneath the wheel. I may even take a punt on it and get the owner to test drive it with me-and get him to deliver it to my mechanic to do the work to adjust the seat, not something I’m capable of doing.
  13. Hello all, I thought I would post a quick update on the Mr12Volt installation in my XK. I had it carried out very swiftly and carefully by Elite and Performance Jags in Derby (£575 including installation) they also managed to thread the USB cable through into the armrest box so I could run music or load firmware updates from there, which is excellent (I thought I would lose USB connectivity) you can access the USB through the old Jag screen. For a while I had an amusing moment where in Android Auto I was playing one piece of music and then when I switched to the old Jag screen I had a different piece of music playing! That caused some confusion until I realised the Android Auto was playing music from my phone, the old Jag system from the USB stick! Problem solved by taking the USB stick out as I found I didn't need it as the car can access the music libraries stored on my phone perfectly. A month on all I can say is that this is a superb update for my XK, Android Auto (there is also Apple carplay) it starts immediately I switch the car on and I have full access to Waze and Google maps (and music apps etc) through the standard screen (no more phones or add on screens blocking the controls or wobbling and falling off their cradles). If you press the home button you can switch to the old Jaguar screen and back again. Quirks? sometimes I have to restart the Bluetooth on my phone to get Android Auto to connect and getting out of the car my phone remains locked to Bluetooth (no sound through earpiece or phone speaker until I select it) but as soon as I walk away from the car the phone corrects itself (I think the cars Bluetooth remains active for a few minutes after stopping which is useful if you just stop for a brief time such as to refuel as Waze etc. remains active and remembers its settings for a while). Phone calls can be answered through Android Auto, Steering Wheel controls all work, sound system working perfectly (and you have more options for adjusting the sound too) reversing camera working, heated and cooled seats work, heated windscreen working and the jags nav screen has a saturation option to beef up colours and I'm sure the display is slightly sharper now. The only issue I am really battling with is occasional echo of callers voices (they hear and echo of their own voices) I think this is an Android Auto issue but I'm still working on this. I have also fitted a glass anti reflection screen protector (as you would on a phone) and that has really improved legibility of the screen in bright conditions, its not perfect, by I can now see the screen in daylight most of the time whereas before with my cars light beige seats the screen was basically unusable in daylight (see below photo taken in strong sunshine - much clearer). All in all a superb upgrade to the XK.

  16. Hi David, I am not an X-type owner myself, but I have used the parts website in the past to find applicable part numbers by carefully considering the diagrams with the view of the engine bay in real time. What I'm saying is that it needs a bit of detective work to ensure you are looking at the correct location in the engine bay compared to the parts diagram. Additionally, you need to bear in mind that your hose no longer looks exactly like the diagrams since someone has chopped a length off and grafted in a short extension - that is giving you the issues. Perhaps it's a case of determining the start and end points for your offending pipe / hose and checking with a local garage to ask if they can tell you what it's actually called. The photos are not really clear enough to show the details, hence the need for the actual parts to be looked at. I note you are in Dorset, which is a large county of course, but there is an excellent independent Jaguar garage relatively close by, see the link below: Swallows Jaguar Specialist | Servicing, Performance & Motorsport for JLR They are in Rooksbridge, near Bristol. 18. Welcome
  19. Done. Thanks, I didn't look for that until you posted.
  20. I too used KG Auto Electronics with the gear knob won't turn problem in my Jaguar XF 2009. They charged me £110 including postage to fix it, which was great value. There is another stream on this site that suggests a cracked/dry joint on the circuit board is the problem. 2 weeks on all is working well. Very pleased.
  21. Thank you so much N6 JMX I've followed your advice and both the heat and folding operations are working perfectly
  22. Hi Steve, hope you are enjoying your Jaguar other than the "fruity" exhaust note - S-type are great cars. Have you spoken with any of the Jaguar specialists such as AJ6 Engineering? They do a lot of bespoke exhaust systems for Jaguars, find them at the following link: aj6 engineering | For the Jaguar enthusiast N6 JMX
  23. Just a query please. I have in my possession, a pair of lockable roof cross rails, which I bought new for a new XF Sportbrake, on a 15 plate. I sold the car some years ago for another Jaguar, then another, my current F Pace, but the bars don’t fit. So I’m selling, along with a plastic boot mat for the 15 plate Sportbrake. I’ve hunted high and low to try and find if my rails would fit any other year of Sportbrake, or indeed any other Jaguar model. Anybody able to enlighten me?
