  2. Thanks for this Joe .... sorted it this afternoon. thanks anyway. Steve
  3. Has anybody thought to check the fuse? We've had a lot of cold weather lately and it's all too easy for the wiper blades to freeze to the screen without anybody realising and hit the wipers to shift the "condensation". Result - overload the wiper motor and pop the fuse.

  5. Hey everyone. so new to the whole jag forum. Actually BMW M car guy - but helping a good friend with revitalising his Jag XK 4.2 (2007). It's a one owner LHD car from new. with a lot of miles! Anyway we're looking to bring it back to life... we have engine issues. 1. Firstly are there any Scotland based outfits who are familiar with XKs? 2. And if not who would you recommend if the car was located near London. I suspect we may need a full engine rebuild. But whatever we do we want to update the power significantly (while keeping reliability and drivability. Alternatively we would consider a 5.0 engine swap (new or low mileage - with history fully tracked). Based on these options - what is possible? switching engines from a 4.2 to a 5.0 litre - is this even possible? And if it is has anyone done it, and post swap were there any issues? And who would be good to carry this work out? Time frame and cost? Additional questions: 3. Has anyone done a manual transmission swap on XK? If not, is it possible? 4. Can you recommend revised suspension all round - not necessarily want to change the feel - but we want it driving like new again - so question is do we upgrade to something else? OR just get OEM parts again / Or do we swap to XKR arms/suspension etc. 5. Carbon Ceramics - is this possible? has anyone done it - and what brand? 6. Any recommendations for body work - if we wanted to refresh the front grill fascia / with the refreshed XK front grill bumper - is this a straight swap? Or are there alternative grill options for a 2008 model. 7. Interior - any reupholsters that might be recommended And in case you're wondering why not just buy a nearly new XK - its sentimental value - owned for 20 years - we ideally want to bring it back to life for the next 20 years. This will all be documented - we'd like to get everything done and complete with 12 months. But we will only share the entire process once we've completed.
  6. I have a 2006 s type but the front parking sensors don't work, anything I can try to see if it is the sensor or the wiring? Charlie.
  7. I have just purchased a 3.o V6 diesel Xf premium luxury on a 59 plate with 85K on the clock. The alternator went invite first week but I and although that cost 3hrs on the side of dual carriage way, 2hrs of which I was sitting in the back of a police car, my spirits are not dampened regarding Jaguar ownership!!! As an experienced petrol head I know of most generic problems with older cars like cam belts and so on, but are there any specific/idiosyncratic Jaguar issues I need to be aware of??? Thank you in advance for any help/guidance G

  11. Hi all my f-pace has a really strange issue so recently the engine management light came on I have a pal who works for a motoring organisation who connected his computer to the obd port which flagged up a faulty cam position sensor. He cleared the fault but we noticed that after locking the car the hazard triangle and the 2 front door lock lights stayed on resulting in a flat battery we’ve been monitoring this problem for a couple of weeks now. So in summary if I don’t clear the fault the battery is fine but as soon as we clear the fault the car won’t shut down after it’s locked resulting in a flat battery the following morning. I have bought a new battery and it has been in to a main dealer where they monitored it for 48 hours they used I believe it’s called a peakascope that basically said that everything was shutting down as it should..hoping someone can shead some light on this problem for me,thanks Tony
  12. These guys are well respected and worth a call: https://www.prestigejaguar.com
  13. I had the same problem, there is a water hose at the rear of the engine which you can reach from under the car if you remove the engine bay floor pan. Tricky but doable.
  14. Thank very helpfull
  15. Thanks for the clarification, it will now be removed as I prefer my cars as they came out the factory 🙂
  16. Hi all, For information, the Climate Control Unit module (passenger footwell) was defective. Impossible to reach screws, so just cable tied replacement unit to defective unit. Mike
  17. ....also I would check the age of your "new" tyres. Code for date is last 4 digits following DOT on the sidewall, first two are the week number and last two the year. So 0101 would show tyres made in the first week of 2001. If your code is 3 figures they are older than 2000 so are downright dangerous! https://btmauk.com/2021/01/26/dot-code-celebrates-50-year-anniversary/ Regards John
  18. Hi I was looking under my bonnet the other day and it looked rather clinical with that big plastic shroud getting in the way. have any of you guys livened things up in this region and have you any photographs to give me some ideas
  19. Welcome aboard Luigi, car looks great, hopefully it fulfils all your dreams!
  20. I would first check for major corrosion around the area, it sounds as if your inner and outer sills are heavily corroded or it could be simpler and have worn suspension bushes. However, given that you say the doors and boot are out of alignment, i'd hunt for corrosion first.
  21. Hi Jonathan, quite a bit of difference between the XK and XKR, so better if you can try them out and see if you have a preference. Other major decision has to be Coupe or Convertible, as that too will impact on your selection process. Engine size needs to be considered - the earlier cars were 4.2 litre V8, whilst from late 2009 the engine size was 5.0 litre V8. Many aspects of the ride in the X-150 are down to personal preference. The cars look great on 20-inch wheels, but lots of folk complain about the ride being too harsh and seek out lesser diameter wheels. Note changing backwards from 20 to 18 is NOT possible on the XKR due to the size of the brakes / callipers. The JEC has a Classifieds Section, therefore mainly Enthusiasts' Cars on sale, and in the December issue, there are currently 10 off X-150 cars for sale with an almost equal split between Coupe and Convertible, but in my opinion the Convertible is the better looking model. Nowadays the price range is quite dramatic, with some being advertised at under £10k and I have seen some on AutoTrader at over £40k. Being based in Scotland, my own XKR Convertible is taken off the road (SORN) between October and March each winter so as to avoid the salted roads. Whilst the body architecture is all aluminium, there are steel subframes underneath and these can suffer very badly from corrosion, so be sure to look underneath any car you view - take a good strong flashlight - although most of the front subframe will be hidden under a plastic tray, but the rear subframe will be readily accessible to see. Corrosion of the aluminium body is always possible too, especially where stone chips have been present, or loose trim traps water and can vibrate through the coating. If you want any additional insight / help, come back trough the Forum or drop me a PM. N6 JMX
  22. Well I might be premature in updating this thread but... I never did find the parking sensor control module. Looked in boot, behind LH and RH boot trims, under seats, under bonnet, under dashboard etc. All difficult to access with horrible plastic clips etc. Jaguar wiring diagrams didn't help as I found many that covered my year of car and all showed the module in different places - why the need to move it around so much? It's as if the installer changed stuff every day on the production line. However I did notice a small water stain near the junction box (fuse box) rear on the RH side of the boot. I noticed the filler cap water vent pipe was blocked so unblocked it and not had the issue since. Maybe water was somehow getting into the boot and running through the fuse box causing the issue when it rained. Time will tell.

  24. Hi Steven, remove fuses F4 10A, F21 15A and F31 30A, all in the auxiliary junction which is located between the rear seats. Make sure the radio is switched off on the panel first.

  27. Hi thanks for letting me know just had it done at 740 pounds
  28. Hi, this sounds just what I am looking for as your post was a few years ago, is this still available?.
  29. Hi just some screen shots of error codes that are on now
  30. Put all the windows down and then spray silicone lube spray into the top of the window channels for a few seconds, preferably using one of those long spouts. Only spray onto the vertical/near vertical parts of the window channels. Once all sprayed, start the car (to avoid flattening the battery) and exrecise all windows up and down several times. Not sure if you have Toolstation in Eire but this is the sort of stuff : https://www.toolstation.com/action-can-sp-90-silicone-lubricant/p34151 It's also good for spraying on door seals, leave to soak and then gently wipe off the excess to help prevent the door seal freezing to the doors in cold weather.
