Hi, I have had the pleasure of owning 3 F Types, 2 of which were convertibles and also a 4.2 XKR convertible. Without a doubt the XKR is a much more comfortable car for touring long distance in my opinion, the later 5.0 versions have a high level of specification equal or superior in some cases to the F Type. The boot space in both types of convertible is limited . The XKR being larger, but when the roof is down the space is reduced unlike that of the F Type which does not have a stowable partition in the boot. I also know that some replacement components for the XKRs are no longer available from JLR at all, these include the later XKR models, for instance the rear subframes are no longer manufactured, and some electrical modules are also affected. Maybe a factor worth considering. I do miss the ride quality of the XKR, my wife is not a fan of my FType for this reason. The 5.0 FType is an impressive performer, but a completely different driving experience to the XKR. I would like to own one of each type but don't have the space!!

OK, hopefully I am not breaking any rules here (I know the UK government doesn't allow free speech 🙂 ) I am doing various jobs on my newly acquired S Type R and post on my channel JAGVETTE1 please check it out and if you like it please subscribe I do it for fun not profit, I make mistakes and I show them, I am a mechanic with more years of experience than I care to remember, BUT I know you are NEVER too old to learn. Thanks in advance Gary

S Type security back up sounder and immobiliser
plaviator replied to plaviator's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
The situation has worsened now as if I try to start the car in the morning, it spins over like crazy but won't start. If I then cycle the ignition on and off about 10 times then it will start straight away. My thinking was that perhaps the check valve in the tank fuel pump was leaking back but when I removed the delivery pipe from the pump, it was full and the fuel did not disappear from the outlet stub, indicating no leak-back. In any case, with the ignition on, the pump runs continuously so switching the ignition on/off shouldn't be the cure. This only happened before if I locked the car but now it happens locked or unlocked and depending on the length of time that it has not run determines the number of ignition cycles I have to make. If it is off for an hour then probably only two. I am still leaning towards a faulty immobiliser but would welcome any constructive comments. - Last week

Owned my new Jaguar for 3 weeks , wasn't expecting a Jag to be my first car but something just felt right about it! It’s a Jaguar X type 3.0 v6 sovereign edition! If someone could maybe advise how rare these are (if they are in anyway!) and if they are sought after that would be great? As noticed not many for sale and registered , Happy to have joined!

Went for a long drive, steering much heavier in Dynamic mode at speed, checked all other suggestions, all OK, wife drove back, and she's happy, happy life, hope this helps.

First thing to do is read the codes. If the battery is indeed not charging then that will upset the engine manangement and many other things. It could be there's a short to earth in the warning light circuit which will cause this. There could be a number of other reasons for it as well, i'd suggest searching for a local Jag independent specialist and/or a good autoelectrician.

Hi guys so last two days iv heard the sub not sounding too well (couldn't handle the hardstyle and drum&bass i suppose) today it has completely blown iv lifted the sub box out of the boot and removed the sub, is it possible to replace the sub with an aftermarket sub still utilising the oem sub box or will I have to find a decent oem sub?

DSC Not Available, ABS Fault error message
LairdScooby replied to Vinomaker's topic in Jaguar X-Type Club
If it appears mostly after a start after a period of inactivity then i would suggest the battery voltage is getting a bit low. Keep an eye on it and see if that's when it mostly comes. -
Thanks guys I have the offending parts on order already, and the source of classic parts has been bookmarked. I have to say I am very impressed with the information that readily flows from this site. From my user name Spyderromeo you will guess I have been associated with other clubs for other mark some national, some international but I have never received such quality responses so quickly. Be proud! For those interested my car in my user pic is myself at the end of the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans in a Porsche 550 Spyder replica not really a kit car (I use it as a trackday car).but one derived from one 50 years ago (not even made anymore) it had a fibreglass body actually moulded from an original Porsche and a space frame that was so good I knew original 550 owners who used parts from them for maintenance. I still own it and it and its Covered Race trailer, but I am not sure I would like to do many laps in one anymore. The Romeo bit in my user name comes from the fact that it is Alfa flat four powered with a 5 speed gearbox, limited slip diff, inboard brakes, etc. Thanks again. Spyderromeo

JOE-DOT-COM replied to Jimbo666's topic in Jaguar Audio / Video / Electronics / Security Systems
Hi If its like the S-type ACM, you can only use a flash drive up to 8gb on mine I created folders called CD1, CD2 and so on, then copied my mp3's into them, use mine all the time, there great. cheers Joe -
Thanks Dave - you're a star! JLR (Barrets Ashford) wanted £192 to supply a key. I then drove to Timpsons and they did the whole thing, in Tesco's car park, in 20 minutes, for £89. Job done. Thanks again. Martin

For Sale - my beloved 2007 XJ6 which I have owned for 10 years is looking for a new home. The car is in great condition for its age and has been well looked after, but as with all cars of a certain age, it does now need some TLC. I no longer have the bandwidth to continue maintaining it. I will give an honest appraisal of the issues I know need fixing - the rest in terms of service history, maintenance and regular care means you're still getting a lot of car for the money, if you are prepared to spend a little more you will have a great car that should last many more years. The car has done a mix of local (30%) and motorway (70%) driving in the time I've owned it. Highlights: **Full Jaguar Service History** - serviced / parts and maintenance all supplied from JLR dealership local to me. - Engine is solid, punchy and still sounds fabulous. 135K Miles. - Cream Leather interior - generally very good. One or two minor marks but otherwise looks good as new. Driver seat wear commensurate with daily use, but still well maintained. - Heated Seats - Heated Mirrors - Parking Sensors - Toolkit (present, with locking wheel nut) - Timing chain (serviced per manufacturers guidance) - Overall really good condition - interior is very good, with the exception of the headlining starting to sag (a known feature of old Jags). - MOT due November 2025. - Exterior - a few blemishes, one surface scratch to driver door (jealous neighbour), small dent to driver side wing above headlight, small area of paint bubble to passenger side door. Otherwise the paintwork is sound and she cleans up very nicely. - Alloys ok, some scuffs. Things I've fixed/replaced/cried and laughed about, and lived to tell the tale (this list is not exhaustive): - Electrical wiring loom - Drivers mirror (due to mirror heater defect) - DPF filter (historically replaced, occasionally still get the 'DPF Full' amber light on, but an energetic drive usually clears it) - Undertray / fixings - Windscreen washer pump - Fuel tank straps - Front track rod ball joints - Suspension components (arms/wishbones/bushes) as required over time - Rear brake drums Stuff that will need fixing if you want to enjoy this car for many more years: - Gearbox sump pan is showing some oil leaking - needs investigating. Gearbox can be a little sticky coming out of Park, so suggest needs work. - Exhaust fumes escaping - cat seals - Jaguar recommended either to use a repair kit, or if no expense is spared, the replace the catalytic converters. - Pipes/corrosion (brake pipes, general wear and tear, need replacing) Tyres/brake pads will need maintenance in line with regular servicing (already recommending to replace soon at last inspection) Lastly, please note that the car has a few registration plate changes: - Plate from first registration was BG07 BHO - Private plate on the car from 2016 until 2025 - When I took the private plate off - the DVLA issued me with a new registration LS07 LFV, which is the plate on the car now, and on the V5. This is because I had made an administrative error during the initial transfer to my private plate, and so as a result, BG07 BHO is on retention (I have the retention certificate). £3000 ONO All documents and service history etc are available for inspection on request. Car is listed on other sites.

Have you had the sock absorber top mount checked not sure if there is a bearing on the top of the shock or just the rubber mount.may even be the collar at the top of the spring.

welcome back 😉

Thanks Joe, they are up near where I bought the car, will take a look

That doesn't sound like an EGR related problem to me, more like a DPF or fuel supply problem. Try https://superchargedperformance.co.uk/ in Bury St Edmunds, to my knowledge they've sorted a 2.2 XFD and a Range Rover 3.0 V6D with good results
