  8. Hi Martin, welcome to the club. My XKR is 15 years old, 60,000 miles and still under the Jaguar manufacturers warranty. Only thing you know for certain is that a failure to renew at the annual subscription will guarantee a big bill, which in hindsight could just as easily have been covered by squirreling away the annual premium for the warranty package into a savings account. 9. I'm paying £1200 pa for above on a 2017 XFS diesel, current mileage 53,000 and I only now do about 3-4,000 mls a year, not sure whether or not to continue the guarantee, (I paid £1500 to a main dealer last year to replace the timing belt, which they had to be done at 7 years)

  11. Hi guys, I’ve just bought a s type 2006. I love the car and drives better than my 2022 Volvo. You would think it as old as it is. It’s stunning. however I have the navigation system and the audio isn’t clever. I was hoping to add a discreet amp and change the speakers for a more premium setup. However I believe this can’t be done . Unless some of you fantastic enthusiasts can tell me different. thank you in advance
  12. Just purchased a 2007 s-type, I have a problem with a hard brake pedal when coming to a stop, braking is great upto that point. As car is in drive I have to press very hard on brake to control car. Is this a similar problem
  13. Hi Joseph, you need to get your car on diagnostic equipment to find out if there are any stored fault codes, then someone may be able to point you towards the appropriate cure. N6 JMX
  14. What could cause my x type Jaguar to keep telling me a gearbox fault

  16. Hi. Wondering if someone could help me, there is a strange banging noise coming from rear left hand side of my xe r sport, it happens when I put it into drive and sometimes park but stops when the car is driving. Help please
  17. Sorry for the delay. I’m in the us and ready, willing and excited about purchasing. [email protected]
  18. Not as scary as it sounds, a Dedicated Ground Return is a negative cable from the alternator that runs back to the battery. Here I have bolted a tag to the alternator housing with the cable lug riveted. Cable is pure copper 8awg, and I used 5 meters. From the tag to behind the FR wheel liner then along the RH rocker cover, then behind the RR wheel liner above the exhaust to a convenient blind grommet into the boot. This is delivering a better charge and it is not surprising since the negative to the battery runs thru 3 meters of mild steel chassis after the engine. The DRG is also better for canbus due to lower signal interference.
  19. Thanks for posting this. I was under the impression that it was a straight swap. Nice to know on advance what replacement parts I will need. ( bought at a reasonable cost!) Now I just need to see if my local jag specialist is willing to do the swap without charging a fortune! Thanks again, AL
  20. I have recently purchased a 2007 S Type 2.7 diesel automatic which has a braking problem that my mechanic is scratching his head over and I’m hoping someone here knows the answer. When braking, the pedal is initially hard with no retardation, press harder and the pedal goes down and the car stands on its nose. When you release the pedal, it stays down initially but slowly comes up allowing you to drive off, but works better when you put a toe under the brake pedal to lift it fully. So far my mechanic has stripped all 4 corners and reassembled, changed the brake servo and also the vacuum. Still does the same with the added benefit of now showing an ABS fault. has anyone else experienced anything similar, or understand what is going on?
  21. Still desperate for a laptop with sdd V130 software willing to pay cash My Jaguar is still on the drive with alarm and valet mode. Today I have removed cleaned every earth point and checked every fuse still not going, missing driving it now. If anyone has a laptop I will pay cash and collect. Phil
  22. Hi all I have a selection of body panels for the early 1999-2003 s type in mistrial blue. Need the room in my garage . So if you need or know anyone who needs parts please let me know. 2 bumpers bonnet boot 4 doors with glass. Cashmere carpet 4 door cards Door seals 2.5 v6 petrol engine in need of a head gasket. Inlet manifold plus a few others. As I said need the space also will not fit my new 2.7d 2007 s type
  23. My 2011 XF is leaking oil on the bottom of the timing chain cover. My mechanic recommends I replaced it but it’s a couple thousand pounds. He’s recommending I replaced the timing chain and tension mechanism at the same time which will break my cost to about 3500 pounds. That is just about what the car is worth.. should I repair it or get rid of the car?
