Jaguar Owners Club started following E10 fuel
-
I run my BMW Z3 on Super-Unleaded only, but as you are saying PDS it's becoming more difficult nowadays to find stations with an E5 pump. I recently spoke to a forecourt attendant and he said they were not stocking it until the new pumps are installed - quite why it needs new pumps to dispense it, or whether it is accelerated decay of the rubber, etc in the current E5 pumps? Either way, the benefits far outweight the extra cost of the E5 in my opinion. Between 1500 and 2500 rpm the engine was always flat on acceleration....switched to E5 and its where it should be now - smooth as silk all through the rev ranges. Not only the driveability of the car has transformed but the economy is much better too. I don't see going back to E10 has any benefit for older cars. However, running E5 in my motorbikes seems to have very little noticable benefit that I can determine (as yet).
-
Some forecourts are now restricting the use E5 so E10 is only available when filling up. I have had a number of Classic cars over the years and whenever I put E10 in I always dossed the tank with REDEX Petrol System Cleaner which protects against corrosion from E10 fuel and never had a problem. Not used E10 in the XKR yet but if I do I will put in some REDEX.

Preparing my XKR for winter storage
Finfanu2 replied to Dave from Queensville's topic in XK / XKR (X150) 2006 - 2014
I just purchased a 2009 XKR and am getting ready to store it away from a Michigan winter. The storage building doesn't allow access for the 5 month storage time and requires that the battery be unhooked. Is there any problems or loss of computer info storing it for 5 months without the battery hooked up??? - Yesterday

Thanks so much. I’ll put the battery on charge and take it from there. Thanks for the quick reply.

First, get your battery charged up - you won't be able to trouble shoot with a flat battery. Then when you turn the ignition on, check for a charge warning light - if the bulb has blown it won't charge, also see if it has an internal or external voltage reg as that will alter the method slightly for diagnostics.

Hello Jaguar fanatics! I’m new to the forum and probably am posting in the wrong place. I recently bought a 1969 XKE Series II 4.2 OTS with factory A/C. The driver who delivered it in an enclosed trailer really did me in. I wasn’t home when it was delivered but my wife, adult son and very car savy neighbor were. I’m told that the delivery driver could not start the car and engaged the starter for over 20 minutes or more before he finally got it started. Obviously he did not use the choke at all. My neighbor got inside the truck and informed him about it and he finally pulled the choke out and the car started right up. Now a few days later, I have a faulty alternator ( not charging) and the starter only clicks, the sound coming from behind the glove box. Would someone kindly tell me the steps to troubleshooting both the starter and the charging system? I would be most grateful! Thanks to everyone in advance and I apologize if my post is in the “wrong place “- I promise I’ll get better at this. Also if anyone knows of a reputable Jaguar XKE repair shop near Myrtle Beach SC that specializes in XKE’s I would greatly appreciate that, too. Again, thanks for bearing with me as I’m new to The Forum.

Hi, my name is David, first time Jaguar owner. Fell in to it as I was looking for a 7 seater Citroen C4 Grand Picasso for days out with the grandchildren. However, when my current car came up, I couldn’t leave it. It’s a 3litre V6 twin turbo XFS on a 2010 plate with 77,000 on the clock. Can’t believe thats it’s mine, when I go out each morning. Last big executive car was a Vauxhall Omega Elite Estate 3lt V6 Auto on an 89 plate. Kept for several years. Bever thought I would have anything again so comfy.

XKR rear boot badges enamel re-instatement

That's good enough for me, as it just looks good, My partner is having her nails done on Sat morning so I will be going with her to get the colours of my choice. I do not know why Green and Orange are the colours on an XKR, do you or anyone else know? I am a bit patriotic and will be going for Red and Blue, but I am told you can buy nail varnish in these colours. I will post a shot Spyderromeo -
Found this, hope it helps; To remove the 2007 Jaguar S-Type front grille, you need to unlatch the hood, then locate and remove two nuts/bolts at the top rear of the grille assembly. After removing the fasteners, you must unclip the plastic tabs that project from the rear of the grille frame by gently easing them outwards. With the nuts, bolts, and tabs disengaged, the entire grille can be removed from the car

My 2007 car horn is not working. I purchased a second hand horn which worked but having trouble removing the grill so I can fit the horn I have removed the 2 bolts at the top but it seems to be a push fit as no screws are showing. Am I correct.

It seems that the fuel tank sender float is not working. It needs replacing . Make sure its the right length when you buy.

My Revell model enamel came off 3 days later in a car wash I will try nail varnish ! I have found I can get pearlescent red and dayglow blue at my local nail studio. They are very convenient they keep the same hours as Turkish Barbers and open are 7 days a week. But I will try Nail Varnish let you know if it works for me. Spyderromeo -

Hi Jim Yep there are loads and loads of posts about this little baby, and it seem like everybody has had a go at it in one way or another. But loads of failures. I am going to try the close all the vents try to build up pressure (not sure where from) also I have also ordered a endoscope from Temu £14.88 colour 4.31 inch screen how can we compete with that !! and if the air pressure doesn't work I will try the scalpel on the end of a pencil method, there are also some methods which use silicon liquid or gel but you need adult verification to use this method. As an aside (I just received a 12 piece 1/2 socket set just to fit my torque wrench from Temu the quality is good, not snap-on good but it has a good ratchet, 10 sockets up to 24mm, and a extension piece, and it came in a metal case including postage for £5.81, and was here in 4 days). Brand new special offer you can buy a brand new SpaceX rocket to take you to the moon for just over £50 !! Who would be in manufacturing. Will let you all know what works best (may take a week of two). Spyderromeo
