  2. Hello Justin, The SDD/Mongoose that I have I presume is a Chinese clone. The suppliers said that it must not be connected to the internet or it will not work. Therefore when I try to use it, it has the Red notice in the top right corner saying servrt fault. Is this normal?
  3. Today
  4. I wish that someone could tell me why the SDD diagnostics won't read the data on my car
  5. Joe, if and when it starts, it starts without hesitation and I can drive for an hour, have a cup of coffee then it will stat again and drive home so I can't believe that it is air in the fuel system. It is as if the injectors are being inhibited
  6. Yes, glowplugs are working. If I use easystart it will fire but not run. Injecters are being inhibited but no DTC's showing
  7. Hello John, Battery full, turns over rapidly with easystart it will fire but not run. It seems that the injectors are not being activated
  8. I think you may be right there - especially in America where the Jaguar brand adoration is huge. It makes me wonder if they bowed out (disgracefully) to avoid having to enter the EV race with no actual intention of producing such models knowing that the outcome would be negatively received (especially in the US market who love their huge V8 engines). If that is the case then it was a very wise move on their behalf - watch everyone go down that path and fail then re-enter the market with a much better solution?
  9. A truly reluctant sale of my fantastic Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 Diesel Sport. Please read the full description carefully. This is an honest listing for what I believe is a very special car, and I want it to go to a real enthusiast who can give it the attention it deserves. The private plate shown in some photos is NOT included in the sale. The car will be sold with its original registration: OE59 XOK. Why is this car special? This is the highly sought-after 3.0-litre V6 Diesel Sport model, which offers a brilliant combination of power and performance that the smaller 2.0-litre versions can't match. Finding one of these in black is genuinely difficult. When I was looking, I saw many in silver or grey, but black models were rare and commanded a significantly higher price. For an enthusiast, this represents a fantastic opportunity to own a top-specification model in the best colour combination. My Story with the Car I have owned this Jaguar for three years, having paid around £5,500 for it. It has been an absolutely superb car, and I really do not want to be selling it. Most of the miles I added were gentle motorway miles as I lived far out in the countryside. The only minor issue when I bought it was some taped wiring in the boot, which is a common XF quirk which I fixed easily enough. I would much rather keep it. However, my circumstances have now changed. I am not returning to the UK for the foreseeable future, and my sister, who has been kindly storing the car for me, is now moving house in 1 week!. This means, very reluctantly, the car must find a new home. The Condition & The Project This is a project car, but it's starting from a fantastic base. The Good: The engine is absolutely perfect. It starts instantly from cold (I have a video I can send) and runs smoothly and powerfully. The gearbox is seamless. It passed its MOT just before I left the country. It has not been driven since, other than to start it regularly. It had new brakes fitted just before it was put into storage. he Work Required: The car's MOT expired around 10 months ago. It is currently declared SORN (off the road) and is not taxed. As shown in the photos, there is a heavy dent on one of the doors. This will require either a skilled panel repair or a replacement door. A new window motor and a light unit are waiting in the boot to be fitted. The car is sold with one key to start and an additional boot key. I have a full video I can send of it working fully, showing and explaining the niggles and the dent with complete transparency. Important Information Unless you know of a loop hole in that you can put tax on a car, get one day insurance and book your MOT that day, then the car drives away to anywhere you want perfectly but to my knowledge you can't tax a car with an MOT. Therefore due to having no MOT or tax, the car cannot be driven away. It must be collected from my sister's address in Moreton, Wirral, UK. using a trailer or a vehicle recovery service. This is a genuine and regrettable sale. If you're an enthusiast looking for a rare, high-spec project with a superb engine, this is your chance. With the bodywork sorted and a new MOT, you will have a truly stunning Jaguar that is worth significantly more than the price of entry. Please feel free to ask any questions to [email protected]

  11. I think the one point everybody forgets, and most of those outside the world of JLR ownership don't even realise, is that they are owned by Tata so rumours of their demise are premature - the parent company could simply relaunch them as a sort of flagship brand (can't think of the word I'm looking for), but think along the lines of Bugatti under VW ownership who were never going to make a profit but were like a showcase of what was possible. I do think Jaguar will be a little more than that, probably like Mayback is to Mercedes, they will find a niche and will sell cars, but it will be a niche. Strange days though, who knows where the EV industry is going because one thing is for sure, simply because of the resources needed it's not globally sustainable or practical, we'll never see everybody in an EV in our lifetimes even if we all wanted one, the outright ban on ICE cars isn't possible because it just can't be done. Even taking into account the copper needed, it's claimed many new copper mines will need to be opened which can take 5-10 years just to get past the planning stage and that's one of the easiest of the materials needed to procure.
  12. Sold the XF and moved on to an Evoque, hence the reason I've not been around here for a while. I do have two part worn tyres for sale, obviously now surplus to requirements. Listed on ebay here (245/40 ZR19 98Y Pirelli P-Zero Part worn Tyre, 5-6mm tread) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/317305208359 and here: (245/40 ZR19 98Y FALKEN FK520 Azenis Part worn Tyre 5-6mm tread) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/317305217833 For what it's worth I found the Falken handling and grip to be very impressive, on a par with the Pirelli when I had to swap two of the P-Zeros out. £45 each for members only, COD, Blackpool area, collect or will deliver within 20 mile radius of Blackpool (so Fylde, Wyre, Preston basically) Easily worth this so no further offers please. Thanks. Note, also have a carbon fibre boot spoiler in excellent condition, haven't thought about pricing/listing this yet, but cost me £180.
  13. I have a water leak coming from the back of the engine , my local garage says it’s an engine out job , any thoughts ? It’s an 08 2.7 luxury

  16. Thank you for your replies, both helpful and appreciated. Is this what I'm after ? Beyond fault monitoring and seat module calibrating, what else can it do (or is that a silly question) Thanks again
  17. Hello Sorry I have only just seen your post. Have you checked the switches. I had a similar problem I bought three seat units and it still wouldn’t work. I decided to have the switches looked at and they found a rusted connection. I think I still have a seat module somewhere. If you have the serial number of yours I will check it. Andy
  18. N6 jmx Thank you for your help, the main rear light is my problem, I’m sorry I didn’t make that clear. I forgot the light on the boot that joins with rear light when shut. I have seen inside a rear light on YouTube and they are individual led’s soldered to a different thin circuit plate. They can be removed individually. If I can’t get details of the correct led I will have to open the light I think. Once again thank you for taking the time to help. Andy
  19. Hello Jimbov8 Thank you for your very useful information. It is the main rear tail light that has stopped working. I’ve found out that soldered to a thin plate are led lights in series. If just one goes then they all stop working. I know the led light on the boot is different but I haven’t had to look for replacement yet. There is a video on YouTube showing a chap changing just one blown led to fix his light I’m hoping I can do the same. Take care
  20. If you can’t source them from electronic stores then these guys will be able to do it for you. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256406369024 I have read of people repairing the lights themselves so it is more than possible.
  21. Hi Andy, not sure what you are after here as the LED elements for the rear lights are not available as individual lamps, but as a feature part of the rear lamp cluster. Go to the Jaguar Classic Parts website and you will be able to see which part numbers you ned to be looking for. Note that JLR Classic are not yet back to selling online spares following the cyber attack. The link below should take you to the correct page, but as you will see, the parts are VIN specific. 22. Hi Alan, unfortunate damage to your sump, but becoming more prevalent as our roads network continues to deteriorate - and its only going to be getting worse. For a suitable replacement engine, speak to the good folks at Auto Reserve or Eurojag, easily found by an online search, but if you have trouble finding them, come back here for more help. N6 JMX
  23. When you pay others to perform a service, no matter what that service is, you expect a certain level of professionalism. Leaving oil out of an engine after an oil/filter change is not just lack of professianalism but careless too as they no doubt had to park the car in the Service car park ready for collection. I'm sure the sound it made wouldn't have been nice (imagine a bag of spanners in a metal bin inside a tumble dryer!) so not only should the mechanic who did the job have noticed but all his colleagues too. I'm no legal expert but would certainly think you have a very strong case for negligence on this and therefore the dealer should fit a reconditioned engine at their cost IMHO. Also having paid for that professionalism, you should not need to check the oil before leaving - that's what you have just paid for!
  24. Hello Can anyone tell me where to get the led's for my xk 2010 rear light. If you know the type, size or voltage i would be really grateful. I was wondering if other models of a similar year have the same ones,I could use as a possible donor. Thank you for your time.
  25. My heartfelt sympathy, having just cracked my sump traversing a ramped pedestrian crossing. Trashed the engine by not pulling over when the oil warning light lit up. Only 35k miles in 10 years. Anyone know of a trustworthy firm who would put in a replacement engine - refurbished, salvaged or new.
  26. I use the iCarSoft scanner and have to say in all the many scan tools I have owned over the years for professional garage use, now I am retired from the trade I bought an iCarSoft and quite honestly don't need any other scanner in the future. It is fully updatable and quick and intuitive to use (even for a beginner) but what is most important to me is the system reset and programming features it has built in - it is much more than a code reader for sure. I got the ten manufacturers setup which only costs a few more pounds than the one manufacturer licence. Handy if you wish to scan family or friends cars.
  27. I know many f us on here have the i-Carsoft JLR scanner, yes it costs more than your average AliExpress/ebay/Temu "jack of all trades" scanner but is worth it for the bespoke options it provides. Opinions may vary on the exact brand but a dedicated scanner/OBD-II reader is the way to go for what you need/want.
  28. Are the glow plugs working - it's a diesel? N6 JMX
  29. Hi Lez, I agree with John above. My own Jaguar has been under warranty from new - Jaguar extended - and it is definitely a "peace of mind" thing. I reckon had I followed John's advice, I would be quid's in by now, but once you are in the warranty cycle, it is very difficult to step off it. N6 JMX
