The onus is on them to carry out the work you are paying them for with an appropriate level of skill and professionalism. I would first ask to speak to the dealer principal / head of business, if you don't have any success, trading standards / consult a solicitor.

Hi Les, I think I would consult a suitable petrolhead solicitor as the comment by the garage is just plain dumb - no-one dips their oil or checks the level of the work completed by their dealer ahead of driving away. Hatfield's are trying it on. In the past, I have had an oil leak on my drive after the dealer returned my car without having replaced the washer / seal on the sump plug - their fault and fully rectified, including a full underbody clean-up where the oil had been spraying the underside of the car on the drive from the dealer to home. I put my Jag xe sport into Hatfields in Liverpool for an oil and filter change. It cost me just shy of £200 . It sounded clunky when I left. But wasn't overly concerned because I had just left the "experts" or so I thought. They failed to put oil in my engine, when the warning light came on for me to STOP and then I checked, I rang them and they said because I drove away without checking it first, the onus was on me. My beautiful car was wrecked. I'm heartbroken. So all you guys out there, don't let my car die in vain. Trust no-one and check your oil before leaving the garage. Hence to say I would not recommend Hatfield in Liverpool to anyone as far as I'm concerned, they are a bunch of cowboys.

The SV8 was the top of the range XF from 2008-2009, using the 420 BHP version of the supercharged 4.2 V8 engine, which was used previously in the S-TYPE R, XJR and XKR models. The XFR came out in 2009, and used the newer 5.0 Supercharged V8 engine with 503 BHP. The SV8 was discontinued when the XFR was launched, hence it's rarity, only being in production for 1 year. It was marketed as a 'Luxury performance' version, hence not being badged as an 'R' model.

Hi, thanks for the information. I have just listed it as what it says on the rear badge and on the V5. I believe this model was the forerunner to the XFR V8 which is 5.0 litre non supercharged. Regards JT

Thanks for approving my membership, Just purchased my third Jaguar XJ, first was 1975 series 2 4.2 second was an 1994 3.2 XJ40 Gold and this week a 1995 XJR. It's my second car so ready for cruising. Been car mad since I was a nipper. I'm sure if I have any questions this is the place to get answers. Right I'm off for a quick tour of the Cotswolds, think I'd better fill her up John.

no it doesnt. i've got pro and it's 3g. as mentioned earlier, 4g was implemented from 2018 or 2019 models. 2017 like yours has 3g for sure. and you can't make it 4g - thought about it to just swap module, but it won't work as 4g one has different architecture to 3g module and it simply won't talk to the car

Also, does the fact the car is touch pro make a difference? I read online touch pro should be 4G

4g capability in jags came with 2018 if not 2019 models (can't remember). untill then it's 3g only. to overcome this, i bought 4g wifi dongle and connect car to that. yuo can get 5g wigi dongles as well. sim card needs to be data only. i had smarty sim before switching to wifi dongle and worked a treat

Hi David, you should be aware that in a normal braking system the fluid should be replaced every 2 years as brake fluid absorbs moisture and that is not good in a braking system. This would be why the garage did a brake fluid replacement during the service - it is standard every second service, N6 JMX

Good evening Joe, Many thanks for your prompt reply which is greatly appreciated, if these guys are effectively, "just on the doorstep" so to speak, it could be worth the "offending garage" giving them a try, I have printed off the contact details of "Big Red" for their note when they have the car back next week to sort this issue out for me. I have to say that I was pretty pi**ed off with their antics as I had not asked them to do anything with the brakes whatsoever, the car is just my daily driver, not tracked or driven stupidly (although that is not for me to say! 🙂 ) and there were not any issues with the brakes when it went in! simply, my regular 8,000 mile service, oil filter, the usual etc's replace front and rear diff lubricants and additionally, being an electronic diff, the transfer box too . As per my first mail, I can understand them not wanting to brass up for a new calliper but giving me some nonsense about paint on the calliper causing the problem just inflamed the issue! I have a graduate engineering background and I am no prepared to listen to this rubbish, the callipers are in first class condition, the paint finish is as it left the factory and it is simply a surprise if the other three bled out satisfactorily without issue, the principal causation then being that it was only some ham fisted mechanic without any patience who broke the blo**dy thing off!! Anyway, enough of the rant, thank you again for your contact assistance ... Kindest. David.

Now it won’t even read the SIM card, just comes up with the emblem in the top right corner, any suggestions? I tried manually setting the Vodafone APN as well, but now I can’t even get to that setting IMG_9216.dng

Hello I have a 1997 XK8. Last year it passed its MOT with no advisories. This year it has failed with major urgent issues including work requiring sub frame removal to deal with some holes. I cannot understand how none of this was picked up last year and how on earth can it go from passed MOT no advisories, to a huge failure in one year?! Anyway, I've been advised that the repairs needed will be more than the value of the car. It's such a gorgeous looking car and so I'm really sad about it. What's the best thing to do with it? Scrap it, or hope that an enthusiast would give me a bit more for it and do the work themselves? I'd be so grateful for advice.

If it's the same as the X250 door handles, the wires fatigue. I've repaired one with some servo wire!
