  3. The C70 is enjoying a bit of a rennaissance interms of value and kudos so my advice would be SORN it over winter and run it as a summer car.
  4. ............ and here we see the 3.0 Jaguar in its natural habitat, a fillng station! 🤣 Joking aside, i have an S Type 3.0 and i easily get at least 28mpg from it without trying - the big enemy of good mpg is pootling about at 30mph up and down the gears. Long straight roads, constant speed above 50mph and it gets good figures. Welcome aboard Daniel, as mentioned above, check for rust on the sills and where they meet the rear wheel arches.
  5. Hello folks I'm in a similar dillema moving from a convertible Volvo C 70 with its folding metal roof and great capacity to an F type fixed head coupe which does at least allow golf club storage. I would have loved the convertible version but with no storage on board, maybe i should keep the Volvo for summer holidays. By the way do our F type owners think that the glass sun roof is an asset. (No wonder Im calling myself Frazzle) ,
  6. You don’t see many 3.0’s , just make sure the sills are solid behind the skirts (you need to remove them to check properly) mostly I seem to spot diesels.
  7. It isn't the cam cover gasket it is the manifold actuator flap gasket. Check behind the manifold casting and you will find it is wet. Another good reason for an oil catch tank from the engine breather. https://ebay.us/m/IYddQl https://ebay.us/m/OkfXPQ
  8. No, but SDD 131 and mongoose can do it. As soon as you plug it in it will read the car and send you to 'Legacy' IDS. Apparently this version is easy enough to track down and it has to run on WinXP with the PC date August 2012!

  10. Eaton M112 oil from Powerhouse. It carries the same specs as the Jet oil such as the US Military performance standards.
  11. OK this is first time with s Super Charger, is there a particular OIL that fellow owners would recommend as this baby has 162,000 on it. Thanks Gary

  13. Welcome aboard Dave, glad you finally found us!
  14. Hi I'm Dave62 new to this jaguar site jaguar xf 2011 v6 turbo diesel I've had for the last four years .
  15. Welcome to the forum. This thread may help; https://www.jaguarforum.com/threads/fuel-flap-does-not-lock.79891/
  16. Welcome to the Forum, lots of great advice available on here so don't be afraid to ask. Do you mean the door covering the petrol cap isn't locking when the car is locked? Perhaps the slider that engages with the door is in need of some coaxing and lubrication. N6 JMX
  17. Hello Christopher. Thanks for that. The dealer is dealing with the issue thankfully and they think its a faulty instrument cluster which is being repaired at present. I will keep you posted. Thanks. Best, Rob
  18. Hi all, Just bought an X type, great condition, low mileage, really well maintained. Might have questions about how to fix stuff (eg. Petrol cap doesn't lock) Just wanted to say hi!
  19. out of date map has nothing to do with tcu? and compromising head unit relates to head unit software update... find specialist who updates jag systems for a living. quite often they are mobile.
  20. My 2017 XJL 3.0 diesel portfolio with 30k milage full service history, has out of date maps easy fix,,,,NOT apparently my car needs a TCU upgrade that may or may not fix the issue or may compromise the TCU and head unit, cost of upgrade about £250 cost of fixing if it fails and compromises the vehicle £ 0000 and a new or second hand may not work as it maybe out of date, like me to old. So unless someone has a idea or a spare bank account. A Collins road map is the way forward.
  21. Forgot to say i believe it's an external leak, but curios why oil is above the gasket line.
  22. Can the JLR SDD 165 Mongoose access the immobilizer fault codes on my 2005 S Type
  23. I’ve just got a 1998 XK8, on the way home all the instruments stoped working, SPEED, RPM, FUEL, OIL, WATER, AMPS. Non of the back lights on any instruments work. The car starts and drives. So I think there must be a connector that is either come adrift or corroded. Can any one point me in the right direction to where this might be located or any other suggestions? Thanks
  24. Hi John, thank you for your help...please see attached photos..
  25. Dave thanks for that. I will check behind the trim in the boot for any signs of water ingress shortly.
  26. I would agree with your logic, i'm not wildly familiar with the XF but would imagine it's electrical architecture to be similar to the S Type. There is a general module that's in the boot on the S Type (which could be a clue) and i'm not sure what other modules might be involved. I'd suggest checking in the boot, see if you can find any signs of water ingress/dampness, also check your sunroof drain holes/hoses in cae one or both is leaking water into the boot and causing your problem. As for hearing ultrasonic sensors, the clue is in the name - ultrasonic. They tend to operate in the 22-40KHz range, most humans can only hear up to ~18kHz so if someone says they can hear it, check them for bat DNA or assume they're mistaken or very lucky. Good luck with it, let us know how you get on.
  27. I have a Jaguar XF Portfolio March 2015 2.2d; after 9 years I still love it and hope to keep it for many years to come but my current issue is driving me potty. In heavy rain, after an hour or so of driving, I get a loud audible alarm and a message saying "Parking Aid Unavailable". At this point rear camera and front/rear sensors no longer work. They resume working after a dry spell. So I am thinking a water related issue. I took it to a Jaguar dealer but Sod's Law it was a dry day and the fault was not present although they did find two faults using their diagnostic tool. These did not allow them to identify the actual fault. I have a iCarsoft CR Pro tool and that (when the fault is actually present) gives me the same two errors as per the image below. As these two faults are front and rear sensors power circuit I am thinking water must be getting in to something common to both modules. My questions are: (1) Is my logic sound? (2) If so what is the common cable/connector that water could be getting in and where should I look? I have tried listening to the individual sensors but can't hear or feel anything (some say you should be able to hear the sensor when its active). I am really struggling to find any useful steers in where to look for water ingress as every model/year of XF seems to swap things around. I can do basic mechanic-ing and can use a multimeter. I would appreciate any help at all please.
