Hey everyone. so new to the whole jag forum. Actually BMW M car guy - but helping a good friend with revitalising his Jag XK 4.2 (2007). It's a one owner LHD car from new. with a lot of miles! Anyway we're looking to bring it back to life... we have engine issues. 1. Firstly are there any Scotland based outfits who are familiar with XKs? 2. And if not who would you recommend if the car was located near London. I suspect we may need a full engine rebuild. But whatever we do we want to update the power significantly (while keeping reliability and drivability. Alternatively we would consider a 5.0 engine swap (new or low mileage - with history fully tracked). Based on these options - what is possible? switching engines from a 4.2 to a 5.0 litre - is this even possible? And if it is has anyone done it, and post swap were there any issues? And who would be good to carry this work out? Time frame and cost? Additional questions: 3. Has anyone done a manual transmission swap on XK? If not, is it possible? 4. Can you recommend revised suspension all round - not necessarily want to change the feel - but we want it driving like new again - so question is do we upgrade to something else? OR just get OEM parts again / Or do we swap to XKR arms/suspension etc. 5. Carbon Ceramics - is this possible? has anyone done it - and what brand? 6. Any recommendations for body work - if we wanted to refresh the front grill fascia / with the refreshed XK front grill bumper - is this a straight swap? Or are there alternative grill options for a 2008 model. 7. Interior - any reupholsters that might be recommended And in case you're wondering why not just buy a nearly new XK - its sentimental value - owned for 20 years - we ideally want to bring it back to life for the next 20 years. This will all be documented - we'd like to get everything done and complete with 12 months. But we will only share the entire process once we've completed.

I have a 2006 s type but the front parking sensors don't work, anything I can try to see if it is the sensor or the wiring? Charlie.

I have just purchased a 3.o V6 diesel Xf premium luxury on a 59 plate with 85K on the clock. The alternator went invite first week but I and although that cost 3hrs on the side of dual carriage way, 2hrs of which I was sitting in the back of a police car, my spirits are not dampened regarding Jaguar ownership!!! As an experienced petrol head I know of most generic problems with older cars like cam belts and so on, but are there any specific/idiosyncratic Jaguar issues I need to be aware of??? Hi all my f-pace has a really strange issue so recently the engine management light came on I have a pal who works for a motoring organisation who connected his computer to the obd port which flagged up a faulty cam position sensor. He cleared the fault but we noticed that after locking the car the hazard triangle and the 2 front door lock lights stayed on resulting in a flat battery we’ve been monitoring this problem for a couple of weeks now. So in summary if I don’t clear the fault the battery is fine but as soon as we clear the fault the car won’t shut down after it’s locked resulting in a flat battery the following morning. I have bought a new battery and it has been in to a main dealer where they monitored it for 48 hours they used I believe it’s called a peakascope that basically said that everything was shutting down as it should..hoping someone can shead some light on this problem for me,thanks Tony

Not that familiar with the diesel engines but usually temp sensors are on the head, usually one or the other near the thermostat housing. If you had dislodged something there's a fair chance the gauge wouldn't be working at all and you'd have error codes flashing at you on the instrument panel.

Ok thanks for that tip I’ll give it a go. Out of interest where would the temp sensor be situated? Wondering if I’ve dislodged something if it’s external to the main block etc

It does sound as if you have a weak thernostat there Jason but you are quite correct, DPF regeneration doesn't normally occur until the engine reaches a minimum temperature. Often what works is manually selecting a lower gear to drive in and drive at motorway speeds in that gear so the revs are much higher than normal for the speed. This should also bring the engine temperature up a bit.

Driving around in the city with all the traffic stops/starts and slow momentums my 2019 XF gets to temperature (on the digital gauge) and stays there, but within 10 minutes of dual carriageway or motorway speed the temperature dial drops down to the 'blue' on the dial and just hovers there. Also noticed the stop/start is not kicking in. How is one supposed to clear out the DPF if the temperature isn't correct. Otherwise all things relative, car purring like the cat it is 👌 Any pointers really welcome, thanks.

I had the same problem, there is a water hose at the rear of the engine which you can reach from under the car if you remove the engine bay floor pan. Tricky but doable.

Hi Ian, The XF Sportbrake (Estate) is a great car and really spacious - my daughter has one. In my opinion, go for the petrol engine, unless you plan on travelling over 15,000 miles a year in it. The petrol engines are so much more refined than the equivalent diesel and you should have nil worries about Low Emission Zone compliance. Highest specification is always a target, maximum number of toys, etc. although they are generally well appointed. Come back if you have anything specific you need to check, otherwise happy hunting and let us see the photos when it arrives. N6 JMX

Hi Paul, the stick-on Jaguar at the boot came as standard with the facelifted body style, in 2012 MY I believe. That is when the front wing vents went from vertical to horizontal. Fitting the Leaper to the boot lid is / was a simple DIY task, but on a 2010 MY car, it shouldn't be there. N6 JMX

Hi all, For information, the Climate Control Unit module (passenger footwell) was defective. Impossible to reach screws, so just cable tied replacement unit to defective unit. Mike

Anyway another question I have re boot badges, I have seen a number of XK150 (various manufacturing dates) and not all of them have the leaping Jag on the boot lid like mine. Is this standard on a 2010 XKR 5.0ltr Supercharged Convertible?
