Hi Alan, that does sound a little bit salty, but there could be a number of reasons for the higher cost. Did you get an estimate breakdown? I suspect that there is little appetite amongst the dealer network to continue support for Jaguar as Jaguar Cars Ltd have not been very supportive of the dealerships, walking away from them in many cases. There may be also age related items that are not a normal part of the annual service such as auxiliary belts, etc. You are probably fortunate that you have a number of dealerships in your locale, but as the warranty period is well past, you also have the option of finding a good local independent to undertake your work and build a relationship for the future. I actually still have my own 2010 XKR under Jaguar Extended Warranty and spoke to them recently about the situation with the dealerships. They advised that as long as the work, such as servicing, is carried out to the correct procedure and interval, there would be no problem with the warranty conditions. They also said that an independent could undertake warranted repairs, provided they first got the go ahead from the warranty provider - same as a dealership would. It was ok on the last MOT but it has been standing for a few years that's why I'm breaking it.

I have a F Type 2014 s. Mileage is 35213. Have just been quoted £1600 from Jaguar dealer for a yearly service!. Live in Leicestershire was opening to pay around about £700 Would welcome any suggestions Kind regards Alan

Hi, it's got damage to the o/s rear and dinks and little dents all over. It's totally repairable but I've lost all interest in it and it's just sat on my drive.

Me again, Is my gear knob supposed to be lit-up at night when the car lights are turned on ? Only I can hardly see the design anymore (showing the gear positions) as the numbers are quite worn, although it doesn't bother me personally my wife says it's annoying as she doesn't drive it much so can never remember (as they are different to her car). Hi everyone, The rear parking sensors on my 2009 X-Type no longer beep when reversing close to something. (The front ones work if I click the switch located above the rear-view mirror). Have watched a couple of Youtube videos but non the wiser. Any ideas ? Could it be a dirty connector or something ? Many Thanks, Les

So after a few phone calls this morning i've got a JLR mechanic fixing the car next friday.He knew exactly what was wrong with it when i told him the code and told me it's a very common fault on the 2.0d Igneium engine and that it could have been worse if i hadn't caught the problem now.£600 including vat and thats parts supplied too which i thought wasn't bad...Pentland JLR wanted £178+ vat just for the part alone.I'll updated this thread when the work has been done.

Reluctantly selling this beauty as we have no space for it. The body work is beautiful, the wheels are in great condition. It’s runs well, and looks good under the bonnet. Interior is also good for its age. It’s only done 82,000 miles. It’s original with good history and a years MOT.

Turns out it has issues that is beyond my local garage...they've told me it'll need to go to a JLR specialist.

Could be egr valve, Just got this off internet hope it helps friend's XF had very similar problems...pulling away from junctions or roundabouts and the engine lost power briefly, before springing back to life. The Jag dealership had the car in several times but were unable to find the problem initially, it wasn't untill they had the car in for a few weeks that eventually the cause was discovered. They replaced the EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) and everything was fine thereafter. I hope this gives you something to look into. Or it could be fuel related

My XF 2.2 diesel 2013 I am having intermittent power loss when pulling away. The loss of power least for about 3 seconds then back to normal. It can be once in a journey or not at all. It’s had full service and new fuel filter. It’s been plugged in to a diagnostic and nothing shown. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or experienced this too? Any help is very much appreciated!!!

Hi. Apologies, I should have probably explained. I've recently had my engine rebuilt which included a new block being installed. I've trying to understand if I need to notify DVLA and get V5 changed. The company that did the rebuild work for me don't seem to engage with me now I've paid them and I'm struggling to get inormation from them.

Hi Jason, the engine number should be shown on your V5 document. Additionally, it is likely to be shown on a sticker on the B pillar. N6 JMX

Hi mate how bad is the body work damage

Hello everyone I've owned S-Type Jaguar since 2002. For the last 10 years I've had an 2004 S-Type. This morning while pulling out of my driveway they had repaved it and I skidded in gravel. Loss of traction. It didn't seem like a big deal however now it says restricted performance and as you know it's like Limp Mode. My regular mechanic doesn't work on this particular car and it's hard to find someone to work on an S-Type older than a 2006 here in St Louis Missouri United states. Although my car only has 125,000 miles on it. It's now acting different because of the restrictions. My mechanic suggested I disconnect the battery for a few hours. But it didn't work. This is my baby and I am on a fixed income as a disabled senior. Any ideas? [email protected]
