I only have just brought this XK8 convertible is a 2002 with 64000 miles, it is in the garage have some work done to it. One of the things is the remote does not work; we have replaced the Security Module in the boot and now the remote will pair. It will open the Boot and flash the lights but will still not open the or lock the doors. Has anyone got any ideas. Thank you

fixing a cylinder head gasket leak temporarily
JustBadly replied to Shadowfax's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
Only the gasket rings (2) I think you can just about access them without removing manifold casting. When you have one actuator removed, test it with 12v to check it's function and don't get the loom connectors mixed up between the upper and lower actuator. -

Probably not vehicle specific, but best refer to original supplier's website for more information. If it's a towbar mounted version, probably good for most vehicles with a towbar fitted. N6 JMX

Thanks that is spot on

Given JLRs recent hacking problems, it might be more expedient to consult your friendly local independent Jag specialist. Often such specialists will have a stock of good used units on the shelf and will of course be able to fit/program as needed for your car.
-
Has anyone had difficulty in getting a new abs module? My car is a 2006 XK and I have had an order for a new unit with JLR since May. I keep getting told that it's on back order but nobody seems to have a clue what's going on

Thank you I will it's my only HOPE

I have a bike rack for my FPace which I no longer need. Would this be useable on other cars, Jaguar or even other manufacturers. Thanks

You must be referring to the red button on the lock mechanism itself which is inside. If that button is in the down position then your only hope is to get the key working in the lock. Keep working the key and flushing it out, it does take time.

I cannot get access to the red button because the boot is locked 😫 I have put lots of wd40 in the boot key hole and it feels jammed through lack of use

Not in 2019 ! They assume everyone is using Car Play or Android Auto

If you are referring to the button in the middle of the boot plinth then that is another boot release switch. It is a push button switch. If it looks as though it is stuck in then try to release it with a watchmaker’s screwdriver. With reference to the key lock, how far can you turn the key when inserted. If you’re not able to turn far enough then it won’t unlock. Try WD40 and then working the lock, it may be gunged up through lack of use.

What's this random connector in engine bay?
MikeSmith3 replied to MikeSmith3's topic in Jaguar XF Club
For anyone who is wondering... Beneath the fuel filter is a connector that this blue socket fits into. Oddly in my car (XF X250) although the connector is there, there are no pins to mate with this socket so redundant. I assume some modules fuel filters have an electrical connection to this plug but mine doesn't. -
Thank you for your interest Jimbov8 Believe me, I am using the black key only, it will not clear the Valet mode or open the the boot between the hole xk8, I am coming to the conclusion that the fob is not talking to the car, even though I have changed the battery twice and reprogramed both fobs twice The red button in the boot, if someone as pressed it down, I don't know any way into the boot I don't know why the red button is there Thanks Eddie

Cheers John you would have thought it to be standard for a car

Some more info on the keys; The one on the left is the Valet key; on the right is one of the Black 'all function' keys. Not a lot of difference in the photo On the Valet key, the Green head is near enough the same shade as the surround of the Jaguar emblem in the centre. The Black key should be a contrast. If you look at the tip of the Valet key, it's different from the Black keys. The Black keys have a 'collar' cut round the tip which the Valet key doesn't. This shows up in the photo

I have a year 2000 Jag S Type 3ltr V6 Auto. It has the metal gearbox pan, not the plastic all in one filter type. There is a lot of conflicting info about but what fluid should I use to do a filter and fluid change. Is it mineral or synthetic and can anyone give me an idea of where to get it without paying over the top, which Ive also heard is quite common. Thanks in advance for any info you can help with.

Ok 👍 I do unlock the car using the black key, and that setts the alarm off My fob does not work, I have changed the battery and reprogramed and still it will not come out of Valet mode, believe me I have tried everything to try to get out of Valet mode and unlock the boot All have FAILED DESPERATE Regards Eddie

Daimler Vanden Plas Double Six HE 1983
Freebird Paul replied to Dennis Richards's topic in Jaguars For Sale & Wanted
Hello Dennis, I am looking at your car and getting interested in the possibility of buying it. I have a few questions: 1. Still available? 2, If the answer to 1 is yes, please confirm current mileage? 3. Please confirm how many owners including yourself? 4. How long in your ownership? 5. The MOT history looks really good with no mention of any corrosion, however please let me know if you have had any corrosion correction work done. Finally, if you have them please send me more pictures of the car showing the engine bay, boot area and underside. Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Paul. -

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? -
Keep us updated as to how you get on.🤙

Yes it will as it is purely mechanical.🙄

Hi Mark Pretty sure by 2019 that CD player was optional. Easiest solution is to use bluetooth to connect to your phone and listen to spotify etc... John
