Ill start by saying a BIG hello to all fellow X Type owners!

Im looking for a decent service centre around the Maldon district...Someone whom I can trust.... Not to use Eurocarparts etc for parts and who has genuine knowledge and equipment.... I have rang Essex Ford, but prices are on the steep side (£150 for a oil change? Come on!) I thought of also using Chelmsford Carriage Company but they are a bosch centre and don't know if Jag use bosch at a main stealers, so can anyone enlighten me?

I have a X type 2.1v6....

Cheers!!

Welcome to the Club, Darren.

There is a topic concerning independent garages in the Jaguar Owners Lounge, and I think you could well find one near you.

General speaking, most members prefer Indies because of the prices charged by main dealers.

Regards,

Peter.

For a simple oil / filter change its worth checking out the likes of National Tyres. If you ask them what oil they would use they would ask you the make model of the car and inform you of what oil they would use in your vehicle.

I used them for my Merc and the used Castrol Magnatec for which I was happy with. Have not had the requirement for the XKR yet to ask

I had an oil and filter change on my  S Type just a year ago.  My mechanic used Castrol Magnatec [as I requested] and for two 4 litre containers he charged £45 [and left me one container with 2 litres remaining], £10 for the filter, and £30 labour.

As Kenny has said there are quite a few companies who will do an oil change much cheaper than a main dealer.

Thank you all for your replies.. I won't be using any helfrauds (spelt correct!) Or any formula one places and the like due to knowing their work! I'm after a independant who uses OEM without the hour charge! Even a tech that can fit parts I will supply is ideal. Would never use formula 1 centres in a million years or anything like them..

I have used Formula 1 once and they tried to diddle me, as did Kwik Fit.

The good indies are the best, although I have a local very small Halfords that isn't too bad on it's tyre service,
