Thanks for everyone who helped me before but I wonder if anyone could advise me about updating my sat Nav on a Jaguar XF 2008. I have seen someone offering a 2014 update DVD on ebay guaranteeing it to work or money is returned of £25.00 . I don't think they are originals but I am a little dubious if they will harm the sat nav. Has anyone used these king of discs?.

Hi Nev,

I bought a 2012/3 update from a company called Sat Nav updates and it works fine. Cost was £30.

The only downside was with my old disc which I loaned to a member who needed to check out his satnav as the car had no disc with it.  That was a year ago.  The member has stopped posting.  The irony is that if he had asked to keep it I would have said "Yes".

Thanks Pete for your reply it looks from what you say that these DVDs are ok so I will invest in one. I am sorry that a member did not return your other disk but sometimes we has to put it down to experience I suppose? Can you tell me if all you have to do is to take the old one DVD out and put the new one in the cassette or does one have to do more

Thanks once again.

Hi Nev!  Did the Sat Nav update work?  I am looking to update my mine, and wondered if yours worked?

Thanks

Mark

Apologies for bit of a hijacking of this topic, it is related a little in that the question is about sat nav upgrading.  I have a 2016 Jaguar XJL which has as far as I can figure out a UK only mapping set up. We are planning to drive over to Spain later this year to visit the wife's sister in Calpe - which is about 45 mins north of Benidorm. I used to have  a Rover 75 which had the NavTec mapping system which I was able to upgrade with the Europe map disc and it was a simple operation i.e. just a case of inserting the CD and it was plug and play.

Is it the same with the Jaguar sat nav system, do I go out and buy a Europe mapping disc and replace the current one that came with the car, only had the  a few months now and still learning about such things as the sat nav system. Not sure even if it is a CD disc based system or it it all on the hard drive, in which case upgrading won't be a simple task I guess.

Regards,

Andy

HI Andrew,

I don't have the experience of driving a later Jaguar model but I do think that the later models have a disc based system.  In my S Type the sat nav disc system in in the boot at the left hand side which is a simple system , and  has a Western Europe disc.  You can check yours by looking in the boot.

But  I have read that you have to download any updates etc.  I would be inclined to check with your Jaguar dealer, as that avenue might me the only way to get a European disc.

But I feel is it is a bit remiss of Jaguar not to have a European system in your car already.

Regards,

Peter.

Same thoughts as Peter..Ask supplying dealer to update or upgrade FOC..If they want your servicing custom. It's on the hard drive! A few minuets to update..

Hi My apologies for dropping in like this but I upgraded my sat nav for my xf with a dvd bought off ebay for £25.00 with all the countries in europe and it works perfectly. I was a little concerned as I was told that cheaper versions could damage the sat nav but mine works perfectly.I hope this helps?

Hi there! I'm new to this forum but hoping someone can help with another satnav update question. I own a 2014 XF 3.0l diesel with a satnav system that badly needs updating. I cannot find either a CD player or an SD card slot anywhere in the car, so I am baffled as to how the thing works or how to update it. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.
