Hi,

First of all, Peaceful and  happy new year to everybody,

I am a new member and seek some advice if someone has had a similar issue to mine, I have just bought an X Type and had it serviced in the Pentagon car service

Immediately after the service I have had a gearbox faulty warning on the dash which some times shows when I start the engine and sometimes not. when it is there, the car judders and shake when I change the gearbox while it is stationary, however it drives smoothly even when the warning is there

I am just wondering if there is something wrong done during the service, I will be grateful if you can let me know if anyone has experienced this

Hi Sal   It sounds to me that when the service was being carried out someone could have

moved some wires or connections on a sensor  so its now giving trouble .???

I would take it back so they can check it  if I was you I think.????

Happy New Year to you too.

Many thanks Frank, You are right they must have done something to cause this especially I have got the front parking sensor is not working anymore and it cannot be just coincidence, I took it back to them and they denied any responsibility and said the service has got nothing to do with the gearbox

Hi Sal, and welcome to the club.

I am inclined to agree with Frank.  I know little about Pentagon other than that they are a big car servicing company.  Many members have found that big is not necessarily best.

I would write to Pentagon and tell them exactly what has happened to your car AFTER they had had it in for service.  It was perfectly alright till they got it in their hands, and it seems fairly obvious to me that they have not given it a test drive after service.

There is a topic in the Jaguar Owners Lounge concerning recommended independent dealers and I do know that there is a very good independent Jaguar Specialist in Doncaster.

Regards,

Peter.

 Hi Sal

I'm sorry they said that and as Peter said I think I would write to them explaining the problems

then if they do not just check it over I would never go there again .??????
Surely it would only courtesy on there part to just check to see if it was there fault .????

Thank you Peter& Frank I think you are right I will have to make it clear to them that I never had the problem before they carried out the service

To be honest I am not sure whether to take it to any Jaguar specialist or to Hatfield, the main Jaguar dealership for a diagnosis bearing in mind that we are not only  talking about a mechanical issue but also a technical one which means I need a garage that has a Jaguar software

In fact the main one is very expensive and I don't think they are wiling to provide a report confirming that it was caused by the Pentagon Servicing company

Regards

Sal

The Jaguar Specialists usually have the software, Sal.

It could be well worth asking them rather than the main dealer who will charge about £70 for a half hour diagnostic check and £140 an hour to do the work.

Regards,

Peter.
