I have  a 2010 XF 3 litre petrol engine.   I wish to buy a spare wheel but I am unable to fit it into the boot because the battery takes so much room and on my measurements the wheel will not fir in the well.

Is this normal on all XF's or just the petrol version

Welcome to the Club, David.

An XF owner will be able to tell you that, and there are a lot of helpful XF owners in the Club who will assist.

My s type has a proper spare wheel on a matching Alloy rim - specified by the first owner, so I appreciate what you want to do.

Hi

You have to remove the felt lining from the wheel well and the felt cover over the battery. There is then enough room for a full sized wheel. I got a used rim in new condition from EBay and a tyre. I could not cope with the silly pump and pot of goo that came with the car!!!

Amthony,

I agree, the two things I hate about most so called "modern" cars is the lack of a spare wheel in preference to that tin of gunk (does anyone ever use it, or just call out the breakdown services?) and a dipstick.

Hi David,

welcome to the club. If you would like to prove that a full size spare wheel will definately fit into your XF without obtaining one at present, then if you can, simply remove one of your Full Size Wheels and replace it with the SpaceSaver. Then use the Full Size wheel that you have just removed and see if you can fit into your your Boot Well. Then simply remove the Space Saver from the car, refit the Full Size wheel back onto the car, put the Space Saver back into the Boot and then obtain a Full Size wheel if you find it will fit.

All the Best ...........Billyboy
