i would also like advice on cleaning headlamp lenses

I've been putting this off until warmer weather but I think this is a pretty good guide, but Clear Coat doesn't last forever. Here's the link -

hi all

Tooth paste is the answer  put it on with your finger HONEST THIS IS NO JOKE TRY IT

TREVOR

Very fine wet and dry with soapy water worked on my old car then sealed with a good wax

First time round all these where no good. the answer was to get a product from Halfords that is specific for the job.

Thanks for all the advice. Have tried the toothpaste trick with limited success but I think the secret is what you put on the the glass after treatment. Will try the wax .

Try the meguires headlight cleaning kit it comes with wet and dry and a mop head . It brought my headlights up a treat contains instructions highly recommend it

I concur, worked a treat, then used a good quality silicon polish to seal them

Hi Rodger,  if the exterior of the lens is the problem then Halfords do a restoration kit by Meguiar which is very good. It is not cheap at £21.99 but it comes with a special buffing pad which fits any drill, also a stobborn defect kt for areas that are very badly marked. I used it on my 1999 S Type and with a bit of elbow grease and about 10 - 15 mins per lamp the results were great.

The toothpaste worked for me but used the one designed for dentures

had a better result

I used the Meguiar's kit and it worked a treat .

I bought the Meguiars headlight cream and a buffing wheel from halfords....attach the wheel to a drill and go to work....took about an hour to get them all looking good again..although i'm having another go this weekend to get them perfect....works well and cheaper than buying the 'kit'.....
