sensor failure

Featured Replies

Anybody had there camshaft sensor or knock sensor fail on them ?

What were your symptoms ?

Hi Jimmy,

I had a knock sensor fail on my S-type two and a half years ago, the awkward one of the two in the vee of the cylinders, it cost £246 to get fixed at the independent garage I use, I know him well and this is a fair price for the job. Had it been the other knock sensor on the side of the engine not so much labour is involved and hence the job would have been cheaper. As regards symptoms I must admit apart from the engine management warning light being on and the warning message I experienced none, but I have been told a symptom can be jerky gear shifts on an automatic box, not in my case however. Is your X-type automatic and are you experiencing this? Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Geoff.
