HI Guys, Just Got The Car Back From MOT And The Radio Was Disconnected, But I Can't Find A Code For The Radio, Is There a Generic Code, Or Do I Have To Contact Jaguar to Get It Sorted, Thanks In Advance, Rod

Hi Rod,

I don't think that there is a generic code.

You can get the code from other places rather than Jaguar, who are inclined to charge a lot of money.

Most good garages have a gadget that will tell you.

Regards,

Peter.

Well Called Jaguar today, Paid the £19 they gave me the code registered to the vin number and nothing tried it 3 times, Now £19 out of pocket, Is there anything else i can do before i buy another unit. Got All the other bits sorted now just this Stereo. Cheers Folks

Get back on to Jaguar, Rod and tell them that it did not work.

Have you the touch screen on your car, or the message centre?  Does it ask you for the code?  If it doesn't work when the radio is switched on, it is either the wrong code of some misconnection.

Enter any code 3 times so that the display shows "PLEASE WAIT"

Simultaneously press ">>" "PTY" "A.MEM" should only take 2 or 3 seconds and the radio turns on.

Hope this helps and saves some one some money!!

This works on my 2003 x type

Hi Rod

Well I think Jaguar charging £19.00 for your code is a disgrace, got my radio code from Landrover, they didn't charge me anything.

All the best

This definitely works in S-Types as well. It's included as part of the "Battery reset document" which is available for download from this forum

HI,

I just called Jaguar Glasgow who gave me code within 60 seconds. They, in addition, didn't charge or mention a charge. Just an update.

Awesome trick. Thanks.  Worked on my 2004 XJR with simultaneously press ">>" "PTY" "A.MEM", I didn't need to enter a code three times.

Hi Dave,

I don't know whether the 3 button frick will work on a pre facelift model, but most main dealers;ers will give you the code without charge,

Nice to see a prefacelift model in such a good condition.

Peter.

I tried the 3 button trick on my 56 plate touch screen x type. I didn't work. Any ideas?

hi

it should work if you have the touch screen

also if you phone a dealer they usually give it you for free

or look on ebay, you can get the code with the serial number for £1, if its not the oe strereo

cheers

Joe
