Hi all. Just been glancing on YouTube, came across how to change air filter, well what a pain in the but never seen how much you have to disassemble just to change air filter. Personally thinks it's a terrible design.

What do you all think

Hi Phil,

Was there a change in design?

The air filter on my 2.7 Diesel  07 plate can be changed in under two minutes and that is including unwrapping the box it comes in.

Regards,

Peter.

This is on petrol so don't know if any different, you have to remove slam panel cover, remove air intake pipe, disconnect maf sensor plug, then you remove air filter box. Crazy

Hi Phil,

The petrol engine must be very different.  So easy on the diesel.

I don't think so Peter, I did my 2001 V6 at the weekend and one just unclips the 2 top plastic clips and it pivots open. My aftermarket filter wasn't a great fit and I had trouble closing it, but it's a 2 minute job as Phil mentioned ;)

Got Phil and I the wrong way round, Russ.

Is your car a Petrol 2.5 or 3.0 litre?

By looking at that, the actual air intake pipe is part of the air box lid the section where maf goes into. If you go on YouTube and search how to change air filter on jaguar s type. See what you think? I'm just going out now have a look at mine

Sorry about that Phil and Peter ;)

Mine is a petrol 2001 3.0 v6 sport...

Yours must be different russ just looked at mine and can't just pop it open and left lid it only opens slightly as connected to air intake

Sorry guys, I will try to engage brain / memory before responding in future ;)

I already had the intake pipe off when I changed mine as I was doing plugs and coil packs, which meant it really was just an unclipping job. But it's really not too bad, an extra couple of minutes to disconnect the sensor connector and the big jubilee clip making perhaps 5 minutes and not 2 minutes all in. All nice and easy to access etc.

Good luck with it...
