DO I have to leave it at the garage where the MOT has taken place or can I drive it back to work (Less than A mile away) ?

I ask as I have ordered the Washer Bottle Pump but its not going to get here till Thursday or Friday... MOT is tomorrow.!

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Chris

I would wait until you get the water bottle has you wii fail the MOT and need to pay for a re-test. You are allowed to take a car with no MOT to a test station provided you have and appointment. Well thats always been the way in the past, perhaps another member may have more current info.

Thanks Newbie, I think the retests are free ?

Welcome to the Club, Derek.

I think you are correct in your advice.

I always make sure my car's MOT is about three weeks before it is due, and my mechanic does a service at the same time.  I have used a mobile mechanic for over 12 years and he is very good indeed.

Regards,

Peter.

I'm usually on the ball with MOT and have it done by now, but had some money issues past few months (weve all been there) just bad timing!

As an ex traffic cop I can advise that you cannot drive the car on a public road if the MOT has expired unless you are driving it TO a prearranged MOT Test which is verifiable. If the existing certificate still has a day or two to go you can drive the car despite it having failed the new test until the expiry date of the old certificate. If however the old certificate has expired you need to leave the car at the garage or risk being stopped and booked.

Hi all,

I managed to pick up 2 water bottle pumps this morning for the grand price of free...

Fitted one... works perfect.

Crazy really... Still Failed MOT - Excessively corroded offside front brake pipe.

So, Rebooked in for tomorrow. Brake pipe getting done for £40 and a free retest.

Not a bad test then eh??
