Hi everyone,

 

Just purchased a 2012 XF 3.0 D S portfolio edition - beautiful car with the most extraordinary engine. Very happy customer. Any advice from other XF diesel drivers about how to keep the engine in tip top condition?

Hi Stuart, and welcome to the club.

 

The XF is the successor to the s type, and the early ones had the same 2.7 Diesel engine as the S Type D, and the 3 .0 litre Diesel was of similar design but improved to meet EU requirements.

 

I had my car Terrcleaned, which made a great difference to performance and well worth the £120 I paid.

 

Further to that, I used Shell V power regularly  ---  some members though find no problems with standard 95RON.

 

The 3.0 D has two EGR valves, one each side of the V6 engine, and they need a good blast every now and then.

 

I have had my S Type for two and half years and it has done 65k miles with only the odd minor issue, and it runs smoothly and quietly.

Hello Stuart and a warm welcome to 'THE Jaguar OWNERS CLUB "JOC". I cannot give any advice on the Diesel engine owning a 4.2 V8 supercharged petrol engine however, Peter has made good comments being an experienced owner and would only offer good advise.

Hi Peter and Kenny,

Many thanks for the warm welcome and helpful advice, I'll take it on board.

Just another quick question - the leather interior is Ivory colour and likely will need some regular cleaning to keep it looking good. The dealer has provided some protection for the interior but is there any product you can recommend for the leather?

Hi Stuart,

 

The interior of my S Type is Dove Grey, which is similar to use.

 

There are a lot of leather preserving and cleaning products, but the one that seems to be the best. and which I have used is the Autoglym Leather cleaner, and the Autoglym Leather balm for preservative and feeding the leather.

 

Whatever you use, elbow grease and patience need to be used.  To use the cleaner, I use a toothbrush.

 

Always use good absorbent cloths to buff  up the leather, and microfibre for the exterior.

      Please find attached your club label – please can this be distributed amongst your club members prior to the event. Please ensure that they print this label and display it in their windscreen upon entry to the event, this ensures that all members wishing to park within your club area are directed to the correct parking location by our stewards. Please do not modify or add logos to the club label.

      We do ask that all individuals have purchased their tickets on an individual basis in advance via our website, to speed up the entry process on the day. This can be done on our website here until 2pm on the day when admission closes: https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/simply-jaguar.

      Note that we do have two entrances available, one is exhibitors gate at the bottom of the hill as you come in to Beaulieu, with the other being the normal Simply event entrance within the attraction. Either entrance is fine to use and both are open from 9.00am, with the exhibitors entrance closing around 11am.

      Participant prices are only valid if arriving in a Jaguar and taking part in the rally. They are not valid for those arriving on foot.

      Participants can make the most of our EARLY BIRD discount by booking before 28th February 2023.

      Children under 5 require a ticket, this can be booked online free of charge.

      Participant and visitor tickets will include entrance to the rest of the Beaulieu attraction, including the National Motor Museum, Palace House, Little Beaulieu, World of Top Gear, Beaulieu Abbey and its grounds and gardens.

      Entry with your Jaguar is from 9am – 2pm. Please make sure you have your ticket printed or available on your phone, ready to be scanned on arrival.

      Cars cannot leave and re-enter the grounds for the Simply rallies.

      We do ask for a final update on numbers 2 weeks prior to the event following which we will send out club labels to you via email for you to then distribute out to club members.
