Id lose the leaper in the front grille, just looks wrong.

Nice car otherwise.

You know as well is I do that bonnet leapers are the way forwards!!

The badge in middle looks out of place, the same as the badge on the back of the XF.

Leaper lost  :D I wasn't keen on it myself, held on with bits of wire.

Thinking about a bonnet mascot, I've read the thread and am leaning towards one.

No ACM if it's in the centre console compartment, only a power socket.

Had it up on a lift this morning, smoke is coming from passenger side between the engine and bulkhead.

The exhaust does not sound like its leaking, although there is a tiny leak from

the joint after the cat on the offside (not causing the problem).

Time to contact the dealer and see if I can get it looked at by my local garage.

Regards to all

Certainly sounds like the dreaded crack in the flexible joint Dave.

I got round mine quite cheaply by virtue of a Powerflow dealer locally who took it as a personal project.

Unfortunately, his words after completion were:- "Never again".

Depending upon your dealer's attitude, there are three ways to solve the problem.

First and most expensive is to replace the cat / flexi assembly.

Second is to use one of the officially endorsed flexi stub replacements.

Thirdly is to use a third party replacement which doesn't have a built in flexi.

Personally, I'd steer well clear of the third option. The designers built in a flexi for a reason, after all.

Bonnet mascot seems to be a bit of a Marmite point. I wasn't keen at all until I saw one in the flesh, as it were, on Denis's S Type.

Do you recall seeing mine with leaper at the nanos?

I'd suggest that you might wish to see one for yourself before making what might be an irrevocable decision.

Quick update,

Stick on leaper ordered, took car back today to dealer's garage man. Passed on info about the flexi, hopefully I'll pick it up next week,

smelling of roses and a little more economical, It's averaging 30 mpg over 780 miles since I bought it, probably because I've got a heavy right foot

and it's fun.

Second update,

Car now back after 2 weeks, didn't mind the delay as I have had a bout of man flu, still not right but getting there. Pleased with Branson Motors, £475 to repair the exhaust under warranty, they even gave me a copy of the receipt for my folder.

I opened the boot today and found the undertray so I will put that back on myself using some new stainless bolts from work rather than driving back up to West Bromwich where they have moved to, for them to fit.

Not sure whether the smell has gone, still got a blocked nose,SWMBO will tell me next time I take her out in it.

Enough ramblings from a sick, getting old man, so everyone have a good drive today as I did in the sunshine here in sunny Tewkesbury. [emoji1]
