You could try borrowing a disc that you know works and see what it says.

There are lots of sites that will provide a new disc for about £25.  Just google jaguar  x type Sat nav update.  Amazon and Ebay will give you the info - I got a 2012/13 update from a site called  "Sat Nav Updates" for my 07 S Type to replace the 2005 disc that was  there.

Thank you for your help again Peter.I have ordered a disc from Amazon, £28.98 with postage.I am nervous about installation but I'll let you know how it goes.Cannot get lost with the pigeons on board.

I've just bought a 2015-2016 disc from ebay to update the 2007 disc in my car. When I changed it, it said an update was required which would take 20 minutes - and had the option to continue. As I was late, I switched the car off thinking I'd do it later.

Starting the car later - the satnav button on the home screen just beeps - no satnav, and no message. I put the 2007 disc back in - same thing. It obviously wants this update, but I've got no idea how to re-boot it !  Can anyone help ?

I am sure I read a post somewhere on here where a member explains how to re-boot the system

Sat Nav disc arrived this morning £28.98 from Amazon , installed it in the car and it worked instantly so far so good?

Hi everyone I've just bought a 2007 x type and when I try to use the sat nav it's saying the disc is not a dvd disc as anyone got any ideas to what is happening please.

hi

usually when this happens you nav dvd unit is on its way out

you could try a cd cleaning disc in it, might fix it

as the laser gets older it struggles reading the dvd, copied discs are the first to  fail, usually the read genuine ones till the end

only real fix is to fit another nav dvd unit

original discs work better

its because the nav unit is struggling to read the disc,

using a cd cleaning disc sometimes can cure it

Hi everyone tried the disc cleaner still not working guess I'll have to buy a new unit more money ☹

I have x type with satnav problem, it turns  on and first a warning says not to operate whilst driving, then the map comes on then when i press the address  button nothing happens,  any ideas please 

Hi Patrick, and welcome to the club.

At a guess, I would say that the disc is the issue.  It could need either cleaning or replacing - plenty of discs can be found via google.

Hi. My dvd sat nav is making a clicking noise and ejecting the dvd map cd. Was working fine until I put the updated cd in. Now it wont load either. Just clicks for a few seconds then ejects. Any ideas please

the xf system is different to the s-type

sounds like its corrupted the software and will need Jaguar software to sort it

check on the XF group just in case they have any better ideas

Hi all

I have just changed the Navigation box in the rear of my X Type Estate. Bought a second hand unit through E Bay and also purchased a new Genuine disk. All the systems work accept the Navigation system as when I switch on the screen comes up with 'not a maps CD' cleaned the disc and even put the old disc in which came up with the same message. Any ideas would be welcome
