Why did they do that??

Featured Replies

Ever wondered why the first owner chose the car that you now own??

we were talking about this the other day.

my car for example,

what was ultraviolet chosen, why did they have satnav and heated seats but no voice or Bluetooth options?

What at made them go for a manual instead of an automatic?

Makes you you wonder what they saw looking in the sales brochure.

Hi Andy,

I had a good look at the first owner of my S Type, which has a lot of optional extras, even a proper spare wheel on a matching alloy.  He lived in Cornwall and appeared to also have a place in  London  ---  so no expense spared.

The second owner lived in the Cotswolds and the car was serviced at a main dealers regularly.

I guess  it  has every optional extra except Jaguar Voice and a TV screen  -- which I would not have had either.

Peter.

Good thought Andy! I'd be interesting in finding out a little more about mine, I think the spec is great and I can hardly fault it. Other than the lack of heated memory seats and the tape deck, which even in 01, must have been a little past it and is a positive relic in 2016! Where are you getting this info Peter and is it available to all?

Hi Russ,

I got the information about the owners from where they got the car serviced plus some invoices and MOT tests.  The spec of the car when it left the production line/factory on the 13th of March 2007 was obtained off a site using the VIN number.---vindecoderl.com  If it doesn't work, you can get a print out from a Jaguar Main dealer, and then by dint of pricing the items individually you can see how much was spent on optional extras  --  in my case, it was £11,096 if I have remembered correctly.

Regards,

Peter.

Mine is easy. Was a funeral directors car when new, hence black. Not sure if that was an option or not or whether the car is standard apart from that. I will dig out the vin number and try that site. Thanks.
