car shaking at 45 mph

Featured Replies

Hi all

i had the springs & ball joints changed on the front of car i've had the wheels tracked and balanced but the car is now really badly shaking when i accelerate above 45. Does anyone know what it could be

Hi Deborah ---It sounds as-though its still something out of balance.???/

You say the car is badly shaking ?? does the steering wheel shake in your hands or is it more

of the rear end of the car etc --need more info so we can try and help.??? its not a 4 W D is it.???

hi

If its only just started to do it since you had the spring and ball joint done, I'd take it back and get it checked

cheers

Joe

Hi Joe in another topic Deborah also said ----------"We just had the springs and ball joints change and now the near side drive shaft had gone"  ----

So you can nearly bet its the drive shaft I would say.

Frank

hi

could be drive shaft, but would have to be really bad to make it shake

even when they knock and click on steering lock, they never really shake or cause vibration

unless its came apart slightly when the spring and ball joint were done and the balls have dropped out of the cv/drive shaft, that would make it pretty sloppy and might cause shake/vibration

I'd still return it to the garage though

cheers

joe

Sorry everyone i've just found all notifications in my junk email box. It was the drive shaft. The lad who replaced the spring and ball joint didnt fit the driveshaft back in properly!!. I went mental in the garage but getting a new one bought and fitted for free. Never mess about with a woman and her beloved jag 👍🏻

ok lesson learnt, debs.. never go back to them bunch of cowboys. well thats if it was my car.
