Hello

My first post and please forgive me if this has been previously covered? I have just bought my FIRST Jaguar. It's a 2010 XF Portfolio. I absolutely adore it. However, one niggle. I wanted to use the voice command facility. I followed the instructions to the letter but it failed at the first step. When I press the VOICE CONTROL button on the steering wheel but there is NO BEEP or message in the message centre. In fact all the button does is mute the radio or end a telephone call if one is in progress. I simply cannot activate the voice command facility. No matter how long I press it or how many times, the voice command will not activate. Any ideas please? Many thanks, Tim

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club

From the description you've given, I'd say that you don't have the Jaguar Voice module fitted. Alternatively, if you know for sure that the module is fitted then it has become unserviceable.

Do you get the voice training option in the touchscreen menu?

Hi Tim,

I echo what Paul has said.   The voice command is an optional extra on most Jaguar models.  You can check what was factory fitted by getting a Jaguar dealer to read the VIN number.

There is a site which sometimes works which will also tell you the extras fitted at the factory   -----  vindecoderz   worth a try.

Regards,

Peter.

Further research suggests that XF voice installations had major problems and that cars from VIN R95245 had their voice disabled.

What is your VIN number?

Hi folks

Thank you for the reply. I will ring Jaguar on Monday with the VIN to see if it is either installed or disabled. I thought it was a standard feature so may be it's never been instaled?

Once again, many thanks to you all.

Tim

Re voice commands. I have just traded my trusty S-Type of 8 years faithful labour for a 2012 XF. My voice commands worked fine in my S-Type but my XF voice command button does nothing but dials into my phone book. Does anyone have any ideas?

Just to resurface this topic...

I've just completed the activation of Jaguar Voice on my 2010 XF.

Used v130 SDD & SoftwareDownload.HTM file, edited the parameters to enable the microphone and a couple of other parameters, uploaded the CCF file and lo & behold... COMMS now appears on the home screen .

No additional modules required as i first thought, i am trying the same routine on a lower spec XF at the weekend and if i remember to do so, will upload the results of that session when i have finished.

Alex that sounds very interesting. I look forward to your post on your next XF. Mine is a 2012 so if you fancy another subject just let me know?
