Comprehensive Insurance

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just concluded a deal for comprehensive insurance for my x type named drivers being my wife and I.My age is 85 next birthday and we live in a fairly rural part of south west Scotland.I tried several insurers on line and eventually went with Saga at a price of £719, does this seem reasonable to you guys

Hi

That's quite expensive, over double what I pay on my S type R

I searched for my dad he's 80 and his seems to go up  every year now, cheapest I found him was saga

Cheers

Joe

Hi,

Did you try us for insurance at all? If you did were we a long way out? I appreciate it can be quite difficult to secure competitive premiums for drivers in their 80's The majority of the car insurers in the UK won't provide a quotation for new customers in that sort of age group I'm afraid.

Regards,

Dan..

A lot does depend on the area in which you live and the mileage you do.  We live in a pricey area for insurance, and doing less than 6000 miles a year my fully comprehensive insurance with Sure cones in at just over £400.

I did not take the option of a car if my car is off the road, as we can always use SWMBO's car.

Little things can reduce the price.

Peter.

I am currently paying £335 through 1st Central for my 3.0 X-type  , but every year my renewal comes in at a silly price so have to have a shop round every year . Last year RAC were the cheapest at £340 and on renewal they were asking for £750 !!! no accidents points etc , so where do they pull these prices from ??
