Jaguar Voice doing my head in

Featured Replies

Any ideas please?

I'm doing phone voice tags. The system accepts the phone number and then asks "NAME PLEASE"

I wait until the display shows "Listening" then press the voice button before giving the name. Other than that, the car is silent.

I get the message "Spoke during listening phase. Command cancelled."

I just can't work out what it wants

Hi Paul,

Several people seem to have been trying to either install, train or set up their Voice systems over the last couple of days. Joe posted the complete manual yesterday in answer to one query and I assume you already have a copy of this? If not I have downloaded a copy and can forward it to you if you like. Alternatively a search on 'Jaguar Voice' should find the relevant article for you.

Presumably you've also done the system Training so that the car can understand the sound of your voice.

Anyhow, reading your note and checking the manual I think you need to say the Name Tag while the Listening prompt is displayed and do not press the Voice button as, according to my reading of the manual, this will cancel the entry.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks Steve.

I've been setting up Jaguar Voice systems for a few years now but still value your input :)

No, this is a very specific problem which only causes me grief when tagging phone numbers.

I wait for the "Listening" prompt before adding the tag but still get the same old error.

Sometimes though it works sweet as a nut but I can't discover why.

Exactly what I do Joe. That's when I get the error. Only when setting phone voice tags though.

Interesting solution:-

A friend of mine who has a Volvo was given this advice by his local dealer when experiencing similar problems to the one I've had.

Have background noise in the car, specifically the heater fan running at reasonably high speed.

I set my car's fan to four bars and, you know what? It works :)

All phone voice tags now setup without missing a beat :)

And there I was thinking that maybe background noise was a possible cause or perhaps, Paul, you're Jag Whisperer.

Clearly the microphone is much more sensitive than I for one thought it could be - needing background noise to work properly seems counter intuitive but then there may be a good reason.:toot:

My s type did not have Jaguar Voice, and when reading about it I was rather pleased.

I heard that it did not like people form the North of England!

Peter.

I do understand that Jaguar Voice had a problem with the Glaswegian accent - but then how doesn't?

Bu@£$&^%, thats me in trouble with the SNP again.:tomato:
