Hi

I was hoping someone could help. Thanks in advance. I am trying to start a 2003 XJ8. I jump started the car in the best practice method after 3 years not used. The dash lights came on all fine but when I went to turn the engine over everything went dead as if blown a fuse. Now even the dash will not work. I have checked the 3 mega fuses in the boot. I have checked all the fuses in fuse box to right of boot floor. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse box in the engine bay to the left when standing looking into the car. Is there another fuse box anywhere? or does anyone have any ideas.  thanks.

Hi

If you have a look here there wiring and workshop manuals http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/16054-some-good-jaguar-reading-info-support/

have you tested what voltage you have, also check all the battery connections,  even if they seem tight, just pull them off and clean them, the battery connectors can furr up and even thought there on and tight, might not be a good connection

also I would clean any earth connections off the battery to the body and any in the engine bay

cheers

Hi Tim and welcome to the club.

As Joe has said, dirty connections can cause a lot of electrical problems.  It is also worth checking out the battery. Put it on a charge and see if it holds it.

I know that it is different animal, bit I once bought a Honda 50 that has spent two years in a coalshed.  I spent two hours cleaning it, while the battery was being charged, cleaned the shark plug and all the terminals, rinsed the inner bits of the engine with paraffin and let it dry out overnight.  It started first time the next day!

Regards,

Peter.
