front, rear and exterier mirror screen heaters not working

Featured Replies

The front and rear windscreen heaters and door mirror heaters have stopped working on my 2007 2.7 Diesel s type.

I have been advised that it may be a module problem.

Any advise much appreciated.

John Birchall , Manchester

Hi John and welcome to the club,

When I bought my s type over 5 years ago I had exactly the same problem.  I took it back to the main dealer from whom I bought it, and he diagnosed a battery that needed charging.  I was told that if a battery was getting a bit flat certain electrical components would temporarily shut down.

This might not be the cure, but it is quite cheap!

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks for the info Peter,

I have had a very recent alternator change (yesterday 1/11/18 in fact).

My battery failed a few weeks ago and after changing the battery the battery warning light on the dash remained on.

It turns out that the alternator was faulty, although it was putting some charge back into the battery.

I will see if the new alternator solves the problem. Thanks once again.

Regards,

John

hi

there fed from different fuses and relays

the rear heater and mirrors are common

might be worth getting a diagnostic plugged in to see if there are any faults,

do the buttons light up, when pressed, do you hear any relays click in the boot area

have attachted some pics of the wiring and fuse numbers

cheers

Joe

Just an update.

Screen heaters now working OK, after alternator change. As per Peter's advice above it appears the system shut down due to poor battery condition due to dodgy alternator.

Thanks everybody.

John.
