Desperate for some help

I'm afraid I don't know , but a call to a Jag main dealer should sort it out for you.

I'm new to Jaguar ownership but I have noticed that there is a place in the engine compartment to attach jump leads/battery charger! Possibly connect a charger to this and see if you open it that way! Like I say I'm new to Jaguar so might be talking got air!

Good luck.

Hot air! Damn you auto correct!

If the OP can't open the boot, he may not be able to open the bonnet either  - unless he can open the  car doors to be able to release the catch.

My XK has a lock behind the rear number plate, which you can turn with the key to open the tailgate if the battery is flat.

Maybe the XE has something similar?

There is an emergency key in the key fob. There should be no reason he can't open the doors and release the bonnet catch!

Using a battery or battery charger, momentarily apply 12 volts live to the bus bar in the fuse box and earth to any bolt on the chassis / bodywork in the engine bay.

Press the boot button. Job done.

I assume your doors are not locked. If they are, use the skeleton key in your key-fob to open one.

Thanks everyone for comments, i connected the battery with jump leads to the section in the engine and it freed us the boot.
