Water in fuel warning message

Featured Replies

HI All,

Does anyone know how to deal with the "Water in Fuel - See Handbook" warning message (2011 XF-S 3.0L). Everywhere seems to be closed atm so a dealer visit is unlikely, but I really want to cure it!

Cheers,

Jon

Hi,

I had the same issue with my 62 plate XF a few years ago. I took it into the main dealer and they told me it was just a faulty sensor and the likelihood of water in fuel was extremely remote! The sensor in your car will of course need looking at.

Not a solution for you I know but perhaps a little peace of mind.

Cheers,

Clive

Hi Clive,

Phew - thanks for that. I did wonder if it was a sensor problem since it comes and goes from time to time. Also, it seems to go away on a longish run (unlikely at the mo!).

I'll cross fingers at wait for things to return to some semblance of normality!

Cheers,
Jon

Great link - thanks Joe!

I'll see how I get on.

Hi, I had the same problem 2 years ago, changed the filter but no fix. Checked the fuel in the filter bowl and no signs of water. Bought a 2nd hand sensor off e-bay for around £10 and problem fixed.
