Reversing sensors

Featured Replies

Dear members.

I have a 2003 XJ6 which I bought requiring various niggles to be fixed. I have had them all done now apart from the reversing sensors. Sometimes when engaging reverse, as short bleep does start but does not last very long and then stops. Please could somebody advise the probable fix and how much it might cost?

Thank you very much,

Tim.

Thanks Peter. It looks like there are 4 in the bumper. How do I find out which one is faulty?

kind regards

Tim

I am told that they make a 'clicking' noise if you put your ear to them (with the car in reverse, ignition on but engine not running !)

The faulty ones won't make the clicking sound.

Hi Tim,

Jon is quite right.

I have used a mobile mechanic for 19 years and when my reversing sensor went he passed round and connected his device [no charge].

[A local main dealer told me that the cost of checking would be £174 + VAT.]

Regards,

Peter.
