Hi everyone, thanks for all the advice I got from the forum on the DPF Full sign.

i managed to clear the message off the screen and the engine came out of limp mode, so I’m back up and running with normal performance. One thing remains, which is the amber engine warning light. This came on a day or so after the DPF sign. It took a couple of trips to clear the DPF, so I am thinking the amber engine light was a result of the original DPF sign, but now it won’t clear.

Other than taking it to my independent Jaguar guy and asking him to clear it, does anybody know of a nil or low cost alternative?

I have seen various suggestions from buying £20 diagnostic tools to clear it and another was to disconnect the battery and that should reset it unless there is indeed some other (more serious) fault, in which case it will come back on.

All suggestions welcomed.

Thanks.

Hi Pete,

I have a £20 diagnostic tool which I have used to get rid of the odd code or two concerning the EGR valves on my s type.

When I have had a park brake warning I have disconnected  the battery, paused for 10 minutes and then connected the battery again, shut up the warning alarm, and then pressed down footbrake and handbrake at the same time,  switched on the radio  [you need the code ] and then reset windows and sound.  I had also removed the warning light.

A nuisance but it has saved me a few shillings.

Regards,

Peter.

Just found this as I encountered the amber Park Brake Fault light tonight, oddly this came on as I was parking up after a short 8 mile motorway journey. I turned the car off then on again after 10 seconds and the fault cleared. Drove the car home an hour later and it was fine.

The only issue I've had with the brakes is they grab slightly as the car comes to a stop when braking, which I initially put down to  running them in (full disc and pad change all round was done when I got the car 3 months ago), but I've done over 1500 miles since so they should be run in now. It's this anything to worry about?
