My airbag warning light is on constantly and聽it doesn't flash when聽switching on the ignition. My local Jag indie can't read聽the airbag module (therefore聽no codes) and has advised it's probably a complete module failure. He's also advised that airbag聽modules are聽'locked' to the car, and replacing it would prove very expensive (around 拢1500) as such modules aren't cheap and聽would need聽re=programming by a dealer.

So right now it looks like I've got a really nice, 4-wheel paperweight - unless anyone has experienced this and successfully sorted it? All advice gratefully received!

Cheers, Mark

Good Morning,

I don't know聽 if this will help or not!聽 I had this on my S type a few months ago.聽 聽By keeping the battery fully charged it has eredicated it.

I like your white S type I would have prefered it to my silver!

Might be worth paying for a main dealer diagnosis, you can then use whoever you want to do the work once you know what the solution is ?

Thanks for the replies! I'd already made sure the battery was kept fully聽charged, but checked it again聽anyway. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay the 拢99+VAT my local dealer wants to plug in their reader!

hi

air bag modules are plug and play as long as you get the same part number, require no programing, you just have to make sure it has the same amount of airbags

most descent code readers will read air bag modules

I have a cheap icarsoft and that reads the airbags on most cars including jaguar

plugging into Jaguar ids/sdd software will tell you exactly where the fault it

also air bag modules are cheap second hand, try auto reserve jaguar, they sell second hand part and there guaranteed to work

cheers

Joe

Thanks for the clarification Joe - I also have the iCarSoft reader but it doesn't see a fault, nor does my indy's comprehensive equipment. It seems to be completely invisible, so I'm inclined to think it's fried.

Luckily it's not my daily drive聽and, having looked through the workshop manual, it seems to be a fairly straightforward job for my skills set. I'll get the old one out and make sure I replace it like for like.

hi

try unplugging the airbag module a few times, just incase of a bad connection

if the battery has been flat in the past, its a common time for them to fail

air bag modules can be bought for less than 拢20, worth swapping and see what happens

cheers
