Hello an happy new year folks,

I was looking for a little advice regarding and old s type of an old friend and neighbour who passed away a couple of years ago now. Owing to the house now being sold his son has asked me if I can get the cat started . After fitting a new battery the engine spins very easily but will not fire ? I can’t hear the fuel pump pressure up so I’m suspecting an immobilzer fault  the dash is saying there is an engine fault but I’m suspecting low fuel pressure . There about a quarter of a tank showing on the fuel gauge.

I guess my question is because the the battery has been flat for a couple of years now, is it possible for the engine immobilzer  to have lost its code some how ? Finally the is a 3.0 petrol on T reg . Thank you in advance for any advice i

cheers

If the car has been stood for 2 years, I would suspect that the fuel in the tank is not up to much ?

Worth siphoning out what you can and putting in a few gallons of fresh fuel maybe ?

Good call Jon I’d forgotten to check this, I think I will give it a sniff of engine start or something just to see if it fires ! If some I will get some fresh petrol as you have suggested however, I’m still thinking fuel pump/immobilzer issue at this point. Thanks for you reply in case

Hi Wayne, hope it is just the fuel, I believe that it deteriorates fairly quickly when the car is not used.

Hi

if its stood that long it will be fuel pump seized,

if they stand with low fuel and the pump is out of the fuel, the rust very easily and seize, seen it so many time

there a inspection cover under the rear seats, where you can remove the fuel pump

cheers

Joe
