Hi,

My name is Davidson and I'm new to the forum. I need to change my stop/start battery. Is there a way of doing it without knocking out the programming? If so can someone please show me?.

Thanks in advance.

You need to have a slave battery. You could take one off of another car. Connect the slave battery to the terminals on the big battery. Remove the big battery making sure the slave one remains connected. Put in new battery, Connect and remove slave battery leads.

hi paulT thought you could take out the auxilary battery with no worries don't think you have to put slave on main battery or am i wrong ?

My understanding is that the auxiliary only "connects" during a stop/start event to run the voltage sensitive modules and when the engine is running with the battery being charged. With the ignition off it is not connected. So you should have no problem changing it without using a slave. Having said that I am paranoid about the electrics and using a slave battery should not, of itself, cause any issues.... However when I did it I did not use a slave changing the Aux battery and had no problems. 🙂

Having had problems with rear door and window function following a flat battery during lockdown I would use a slave to change the main battery, but like I said, I am a bit paranoid about the battery.

Have a 2016 supercharged XFs recently had the aux battery replaced, back seat had to come out to find it. New one had to be coded by Jaguar to match VIN of car. Now running perfectly again £300.
