This morning I started my 2005  s type 2.5 and had the abs, dcs and epb fault come up. Also the Brake Fluid low warning came on, the engine management light and the speedo did not work. In addition the steering has become heavy. I have checked my fluids and they are OK, also disconnected my battery to see if that would reset them but no difference.

You want to try fully charging your battery and then see what happens.

Have put the battery on charge but it is only 9 months old.

Charged the battery for 3 hours, reconnected and have same problems but now with a constant beeping sound from the dash.

This is going to sound stupid and nit rational at all, about 10 years ago a work colleague had a Mercedes and she had all sorts of strange things happen,

lights flashing, wipers going on and off by themselves, stereo coming on and off,

turned out to be the battery itself, we changed the battery for another INE we had lay about, and all the problems went away, weird I know but worth a try

Thanks. As is a new battery I will take it back to Halfords who supplied it.

Batteries seem to control lots. Our S-type auto box started refusing to change gear, garage thought box would need replacing but after reading on forum about battery solving lots of problems tried a new battery and low and behold it worked! Now changing gear smoothly again

New battery fitted and no difference. Now have loss of power steering along with no ABS, no parking brake, no cruise control, no Speedo  and  brake fluid low warning.

Sorry it didn’t work for you. Maybe need a diagnostic or ECU checking. However I’m no expert, just had a lot of cars that go wrong

Diagnostic came up with 17 fault codes but could not resolve the problem. Might need to take it into a Jag specialist for their view.

So 3 mechanics have looked at the car and all 3 have come up with different fault codes and still not fixed. So no ABS, no power steering, no EPB, no speedo and warning that brake fluid is low. Engine runs well and car drives alright but obviously a little heavy on the steering. Just think it’s reaching the point of taking a hammer to it.

To me it still points to a battery problem or battery connection perhaps the earth point ??? and did you make sure to put the battery on that Jaguar recommend ???

Have fitted a  Yuasa 5000 and the Alternator is putting out 12+ so can only think there is a serious fault which is likely to cost the earth to fix. I love the car but am reaching a point of getting rid and going back to a Rover 75

Battery sounds good but as I said have you checked the  battery to earth it could look good but if I was you I would disconnect from

body of car and reconnect making sure its OK ???

After much wringing of hands and shaking of heads the EBD Unit sent off for testing/refurbishment which hopefully will resolve the problem and then the car will go up for sale. Although I really like the car I have never had one that generates so many problems and so back to the Rover 75s.

So ABS unit refurbed but still no change and now the engine has stared to run  lumpy. Not sure if the faults are connected but obviously I have a very sick car which I’m unsure is repairable.
