Jag S Type 2004 - 'Restricted Performance' Dash Warning Message

Featured Replies

Hi All

Me again - had this car for 2 weeks and loving it but finding the list of things to fix is getting longer 😬

Started the car in the pouring rain last night and this message came up with an amber light on dash.

It went off after a few minutes but just wondered if I should be worried- the car performance was actually fine, so maybe it was due to the wet conditions?

The service book says it's a Red Priority Indicator but it was definitely an amber one.

Thanks again for your help on here - it's been a really useful resource.

May just be your battery voltage being slightly low or a bit of moisture around the coil pack area.

Either way, charge the battery first and then see if it happens again.

S-Types very prone to battery discharge (I know from experience) and the information about coil packs as well. Invest in a CTEX charger/restorer and use it very regularly. It will help in keeping a good battery in great condition.

Best Wishes and Regards, John

hi

with every amber light and every red light a message is displayed telling what the warning is, so only you would know the answer to this

quite common though, is the rubber boots on the wiper mech shafts perish and cover the engine in water in heavy rain, which can go on coil packs and various other stuff

any engine fault should be stored and bought up with a good code reader

cheers

Joe
