Bluefin remap on New Jaguar XJ 3D

I hadn't heard of the BlueFin until now but after checking out the website it appeared quite good. However.........

The power and torque increases they state for my X-Type 2.2D Sport fall short of what I have found at Celtic Tuning.

I plan to have mine remapped by them in February and they quote power figures of 198bhp and 325lbft of torque which is quite a but more than the BlueFin.

To add insult to injury, Celtic charge £295 and come to you!

Check them out www.celtictuning.co.uk

I've been in contact with them and I'm so far very impressed. Also, they come highly recommended on both the Jaguar forums and the Ford ones.

Celtic Tuning do their own version of that. It's called the eMotion I think. It's on their website.

A bit more expensive than having the technician to do it for you but the power gains are that bit more than the BluFin system.

With the eMotion they send you the hand held unit and the programs are uploaded and downloaded in the same way via the OBD socket and you can then remove the upgrade and replace the original program at your leisure.

I'm only plugging Celtic purely because I trust their statements on their website regarding the rolling Road tuning to develop the software and because of the sheer volume of glowing reports I've read about them.

How are you finding you XJ Alan, not had mine long either, found it a bit big at first on the cart tracks that pass as roads in Dveon, but now i'm used to it, I really like it .

ATB,

Trevor

Just changed from XKR so noticeably bigger but love the car. Could do with slightly more power.

Drop them an email. They are extremely helpful and respond quite timely.

They may do one for your XJ but I think the website isn't updated that regulary.

I think they'll be worth the little extra given that the quoted figures are higher than most of the competition and I just had an email from them saying that the figures I was quoted are minimum figures and it's quite likely that I could see more. I suppose if my engine is running clean and not coked up, which it is as I'm fastidious about that sort of thing, then it will already be producing it's power efficiently so the upgrade will possibly get me more than I am expecting.

Alan,

Nearly bought the XKR-S, but in the end went for the Supersport, it is 5 litre Supercharged and is a lot quicker than both the Aston Martin DB9's I owned, so i'm pleased with the power.

ATB,

Trevor

Unfortunately they could not break into the new ECU so remap not done, Jaguar have altered the coding to try and stop changes.  The car is going in on Thursday to have a Steinbauer Tuning Box fitted as the garage said it will be undetectable.

Hi Alan

how did you get on...much improvement?

Having opted for the Steinbauer Tuning Box it has made a huge difference to the car, loads more power and torque (not checked on a rolling road just the actual change in power when driving). It was very expensive but well worth the money would recommend this box to anybody with a new car.
