Hi All,

can anyone out there inform me what the engine tickover speed should be on my XF 3..0 litre diesel (2013) when the engine is up to working temperature.

Many Thanks..........Billyboy

Hi Billyboy,

I have the 3.0d s and it idles at 750 rpm, in old school that's the notch below the 1000.

But for what it's worth my car always sounds as if it's running faster than that.

Regards Dave.

Hi Dave,

many thanks for your reply. My XF is around the 800 mark, but sometimes it idles at around the 900 mark. I will be contacting my Dealer in the near future as I want them to look into the matter of something knocking together when I start up the engine from cold.I posted this on the Forum recently and had a couple of welcome replies, but as of yet I have not been able to have it looked at as my Wife is not well.

Happy and Careful motoring...............Billyboy

Given that Jaguar have decided in their wisdom that mere "users" don't need to know what the water temperature is (let alone Oil pressure or temperature!) it's quite difficult to tell when the beast is up to normal running temperature.   Mine sits at about 750-800, but goes up when the aircon is running.....(Try turning off the aircon with hands and feet off everything and see what happens)
