I've recently purchased a 2005 xtype 2.0d and was planning on changing the oil and filter.

Any suggestions as to which type to use?

Peter will be along in a minute he has a Jag that runs on the devil's fuel, but i would think something similar to this would be fine.

Don't skimp on oil and filters.  I use the oil recommended by Jaguar, Castrol Magnatec in my 2.7 litre D S type.  It could be different for an X Type.

Run my 2.2D on Mobil 3000, which fits the Ford/Jaguar spec exactly and is a superb quality oil.

I think the 2.0D shares the same requirement for 5w/30 grade as the 2.2D.

Got to agree with Peter on the filters. Pattern filters these days are sh*t! Get a genuine one. They're about 7 quid from main dealers. I only ever use genuine oil/air/ fuel filters these days as the pattern ones are truly rubbish!
