  3. Hi Rowley, I don't have a diesel x-type but my previous two cars were a Mini Cooper D and an Alfa Romeo Mito 1.6JTDM. The mini didn't suffer any DPF issues but the Alfa's DPF light used to come on regularly. The advice given to me by an Alfa specialist when the light came on was to, "drive like an angry Italian!" I was talking to the guys at Jag Auto's in Liverpool last week and in passing they said that they recommend all diesel owners take a ten minute motorway trip in 4th gear every 4 or 5 weeks to clean the filter out. Hope that's a bit of use to you, Ian

You bought this as new or used car? Its pointless going straight to the manufacturer with a complaint! Your complaint is with the dealer who you bought the car from? You did not buy it directly from Jaguar! The ACL law in Australia has been in place since January 1st 2011 which gives you legally enforceable consumer guarantees that the car is of acceptable quality? If you have what the ACL calls a major failure* you are entitled to return it to claim a refund or replacement. A major failure* is when a reasonable consumer would have NOT bought the car if they had known about the problem? Don't let the dealer respray the car as this will be on the cars history! The dealer is using this tactic to get paid for the work by making a claim under Jaguars paint work warranty. Go back to the dealer and firmly reject the car! Don't take any bullsh*t about going back to the manufacture! Either there living in the past or hoping that your are! Since ACL which also applies to imported cars dealers can no longer pass the buck? If the dealer fails to acknowledge ACL then notify the ACCC federal regulator for your state or territory? And maybe a local news paper would like a story. Its not only British cars I bought a 2002 Monaro 472 once and that was a pile of
